Sisters, how do you deal with this?

Assalaamu 3laikum wrwb

This may sound a bit silly...but as I'm coming up to that time in my life when marriage
is the next step inshallah, I've been wondering..how do married sisters on the board deal
with body hair? I mean, at the mo I wax..which means you have to wait for the hair to
grow back a good few mm's before you have it removed.  Do hubbys mind seeing that much hair,
or do they simply scream and faint at the sight?

Appreciate responses from the brothers on the board too....it would be great to get their
insight into the matter.

don't worry about it....

For most Muslim men, they have never seen anyone else and have no comparisons to make.

For the delicate areas...don't wax or shave.. "Nair"  type products work wonderfully and you do not have to wait for a substantial re growth. you can stick with the every month or ervery 40 day rule with out looking or feeling "unkempt."

I wonder if the 'bro's" have ever tried waxing their areas of sunnah clipping? :o

Avon has a great product out now! i recommend it! :-*

actually, nair and other such creams are not meant to be used other than the bikini line. it is not recommended to use it on the more sensitive areas. shaving usually causes yucky painful bumps, BUT --- AMEERA knows of a shaver that is designed for exactly that -- no bumps and leaves it smooth. i will ask her to post a link for it or something ....

theres this other method that i recently heard about from my sis in law. Its a bit like waxing and its home made too.
i've never tried it so i can't recommend it or anything.
you get half a cup of lemon juice and 1 cup of sugar.
you heat the sugar in a pan, and add an incy bit of water to kind of make it turn into a syrup and then you add the lemon juice until it turns thick and sticky.
you have to cook it on low heat otherwise it'll burn. and you have to cool it afterwards, otherwise its too hot to use.
to use it, you spread it on the skin, where the hair needs to be removed and then you pull it off, (its a bit like chewingum) sounds sooo painful! you can use a cloth to pull it off, cause i heard its easier.
This methods suppose to leave your skin smooth and its meant to make the hair growth slow down.

has anyone heard of this method?

Sr. Wardah it called umm well sugaring funnily enough. I add a bit of Rose water to it too. It's meant to be less painful than waxing as it only grabs the hairs and not the skin too as wax does.....

Wasalaam

PS no hubby is gonna faint, men are far far hairier one's partner might be amused to see you torturing yourself though, and if he offers to pull off the wax strip don't let him, he'll enjoy it far too much....

Girls, after the first few months a man stops looking at details!  :P

Anyway, razors give ya lots of bumps, make the pores larger, and darken  those unnoticable fine hairs. (It also makes them coarser)

Waxing is painful and...

Creams are dangerous. ( I know someone who burned her epidermis right off!  :o  :'( )

The best method is sugaring. It does hurt the first couple of times you use it but after that the skin numbs up. It takes away all that dead skin off and gives the skin a real nice sheen. It also doesn't grow in one month. (It takes longer the more you use it and eventually the follicles die off). So who cares whether or not the hubby sees you hairy because once it's gone he'll find you even MORE attractive! Hehehehe.....I'm serious though!  :D

I am soooo glad you brought this topic up. Pleeeeeaaassee do the test spot, the directions of all products tellyou how and where!!

Subhanna Allah, with all the dyes, lotions and creams we use, it is good advice. I have never done it before, but after that comment... I am not taking a chance!

Yeah I re-call watching a program 'beauty products from hell'.. or something along those lines.

A girl who featured on the show had bought a home waxing kit. She had followed all instructions and placed it in the microwave for the prescribed time. When she removed the product she held it in her hand and walked to the sink. She heard the wax make a craking and popping sound and the top flew open, she tried to sheild her face and throw the wax because it had just exploded. Luckily it did not land on her face but burning wax smouldered her arm, and the top skin completely burnt off. She had a terrible burns scar which will be there for life.

Unless you look like a gorilla I say let your husband live with the hair. Is all this 'smoothness' really beautiful or is it just an un-natural perception of beaut from the Western world. Besides hair keeps you warm during cold winter months!

the epilator has to be THE best invention for hair removal (at least for me ;D) its like a multi plucker....pulls out the shortest li'l hairs....with wax ur hair has to be a certain length...i think all u girls should invest in one... :-*

Kay girls..I have been doing some research on sugaring.  There are a lot of products on the market but inshaAllah I think I'm going to opt for a kit preprared by yours truly in the comfort of my home :)

What exactly do I do?  How much do I put in of what?  What kind of cloth is best for pulling out the hair?  ???

JazakiAllah khairan ;D

Try out Sr. Wardah's recipe I think she posted something like fourth from the top. Any kind of rag works so long as it doesn't stretch or tear when you pull....Just cut into strips and off you go.
How much do I put in of what?
if you want to make a bigger or a lesser quantity of it, the golden rule is;
in ratio; lemon : sugar - 1:2 so the amount of lemon juice you use is doubled with the amount of sugar.
hope it works as its suppose to, and with the least pain.  :-*

Sis Wardah....jazakiAllah khair for the tips  :-*  InshaAllah will definitely try it out.  If it's less painful than waxing then alhamdulillah!

SubhanAllah...who knew sugar had hair removal capabilities  :D

Well it sounds brothers on the board are extra generous or have great sense of haya since no one has responded to the sisters request so far. No doubt the topic is very touchy and faminine but as long as the intention behind the discussion is good I don't see any problem in it. As it's mentioned in following mentioned hadith:

Volume 1, Book 6, Number 312:
Narrated 'Aisha:

An Ansari woman asked the Prophet how to take a bath after finishing from the menses. He replied, "Take a piece a cloth perfumed with musk and clean the private parts with it thrice." The Prophet felt shy and turned his face. So pulled her to me and told her what the Prophet meant.
Appreciate responses from the brothers on the board too....it would be great to get their insight into the matter.
Well first thing either husbands mind it or not still it's Islamic obligation for both men and women to keep themselves clean. I personally never liked whenever my wife left such hair unkept.
Girls, after the first few months a man stops looking at details!
I don't think upper mentioned statement is true unless a man has found some other INTEREST to pay attention to, so I think the sister should check on her husband .......;)

i had sugaring done for me for the first time a couple of weeks back on my arms, it hurt a bit - but the results were really nice.  i basically just went to a muslimah who specialises in waxing etc and does it for you in her own home.  this way i get the hair removal and support a muslimah's business :-[ , it's less messy than doing it myself, and it's actucally cheaper than buying ready made products. :o

Brother Faisal...in response to your comment...
I don't think upper mentioned statement is true unless a man has found some other INTEREST to pay attention to, so I think the sister should check on her husband .......
regarding my comment....
Girls, after the first few months a man stops looking at details!
You're mean! :D Let me just clarify. What I meant was that during the first few months men notice more because it was haraam to before. So first impressions make such a big deal for the girl (and guy). After a few months they both become more themselves...like guys start picking their nose or pass gas! :P...(maybe that's an extreme but it DOES happen and don't say it doesn't!). So my point is that the couple becomes more accepting of each others minor flaws.
It has NOTHING to do with looking elsewhere. ::)

Emerald <----who always has to have the last word!  ;D

On a different note...

Nisa,

My recipe is 1/4 - 1/2 cup water to 1 cup sugar and juice of 1/2 a lemon. Mix while heating until boiling. Remove when the color turns a champagne diamond color. You gotta do it quick cause if you don't, it's burns super fast and won't be good anymore. Then have a cool pan lightly covered with olive oil on hand to pour the sugar mix onto it. Keep checking on the temp until it's tolerated. Knead it until color turns from amber to off white and it stops popping. Spread in direction of hair and pull off in opposite direction. Voila! ;)

Important note: Room temp is very important. If it's toooo cold, it won't spread. If it's toooo hot, it's gonna drive ya nuts.

i personaly use hair removing creamz n lotions....they are pretty good but no matter how much i try cant be perrrrfect....and the thing bout em growing bak gets on my nerves....when they are really tiney...jstu growing back....at that time its hard to remove em all again (unless u shave).......
rite now it doesnt matter but am afraid bout after marriage :(

and yes guyz do it too ..(cuz i think someone previously asked if they do or dont)........cuz its the way it should be

Are you kidding????   Sugaring HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I used to do it but I gave it up because it was way too painful.  It always tore my skin and made me bleed.  Not to mention the top layer of skin on my fingers would be peeled off by the time I was done!!!!
