| What do you do if you eat something haram by accident, but you sort of suspected,. and then afterwards checked and discovered that you had indeed eaten something Haram? Thanks Chris |

| [slm] if you did this by mistake, no problem. if you suspected & still ate it, even then no problem because suspicion is no matter for concern. However, do tawba, & in future be more vigilant. ma asalaama |

| [slm] When it happens i usually rinse out my mouth and ask Allah swt for forgiveness. My answer is not based on any hadith... just something I do. |

We are told in Islaam that if we are in doubt of something, then we should stay away from it. I am not sure what the exact hadith is but this is just as relevant: [color=Blue]Volume 1, Number 49: Narrated An-Nu'man bin Bashir: I heard Allaah's Apostle [saw] saying, 'Both legal and illegal things are evident but in between them there are doubtful (suspicious) things and most of the people have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from these suspicious things saves his religion and his honor. And whoever indulges in these suspicious things is like a shepherd who grazes (his animals) near the Hima (private pasture) of someone else and at any moment he is liable to get in it. (O people!) Beware! Every king has a Hima and the Hima of Allaah on the earth is His illegal (forbidden) things. Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart. (Translation of sahih bukhari) [/color] Anyways, I agree with the next part of ur quoted statement. Ask for forgiveness, learn from this and make sure not to make the same mistake again if u can help it. Bro Chris, u said u 'sort of suspected' and then checked afterwards. | [slm] thanks. i did feel queesy about that, because what you say is correct, but i thought the event had already taken palce, & too much guilt should not be felt. Thanks again for the Hadith. This is what i like about this site. I am able to get one of the B or S to come up with actual Quranic verse or Hadith. Jazak'Allahu kahiran |

| [slm] I think what salampeace said is absolutely correct . after we find what we are eating is haram ,we should stop it emmediatly Actualy any sin is forgiven after we repent .so this gives us the peace of mind that if we do what we dont know that it is haram then wont be counted against us . but we need to be careful not to cheat ourselves by closing our eyes from learning to identify what is haram and what is not [wlm] |
