a broken string...

[slm]
a broken string....
[i]
Words break the surface,
shatter the sacred realm
like a carelessly strewn rock
on a tranquil lake
shuddering heedless miles

We talk to fill the emptiness
voids billowing on top of
each other
as letters dance meaninglessly
calling for respite

we talk maliciously squandering
precious time
premeditated murders
for in death we somehow yearn
to glean a glimpse of life

breaking news
cutting edge ads
shared mediocrity
veiled in a moment
of so called sophistication
intelligence procured
feigning to be real
as words dance
in
and
out
ricocheting dangerously
around the hollowness
of our beings

a moment captured
a depth actually perceived
and minds start typing
for really this has got
to be well received

like crack feigns
we reach out
for a dose
words
getting high
on the death fumes
of a moment once so reverent
so fragile
now shattered into a thousand
delicate pieces
remnants of another lifeless tune
strewn
amidst the bitter sweetest blues of
a casually discarded dream...

you can’t get wise
from lips seeking to mesmerize!

-Nur al Layl.

Awwww Habibatiy, someday the music in your heart will rise to such a crescendo that you cannot stop the torrent of emotions that will burst forth from your lips with a sincere force, crying Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar.  All will be well, Inshaa Allah.

Love you fi sabilillah
