| Assalamu-alai-kkum A few days back I saw a program called Islam and Democracy in CNN, under Lou Dobbs show. It shows that democracy, I felt that the program attempted to potray Islam and Democracy as something like oxymoron alebiet Military Intelligence. People compared muslims countries to US, as mostly the governments don't give people any rights to express in most of the middle east. Heart is filled with grief looking at the extremism born in these part of the world. Frustration is a main cause we all have seen, felt and sympathized up. But the violence that flairs and undermines the very tenants that Islam upholds in its core of human values and the sanctity of a human life. I quote 5:32 On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land. Yes just as the word is ordained for Children of Israel and that is a lesson for us. The two questions I encountered that I think the west have to answer honestly is 1) Is Islam, not the evil twin in our muslim world being touted as the real Islam relevant in the current context? 2) Is US ready for arrival of Islam through democracy? Any comments I would love to hear. As ummah we are indeed in the middle ground.... Now that is something to think about |
