What do you do to contribute to charities? I don't mean who and I am not asking for specific info. (Tis not my business)
What I mean is, I really enjoy making things(cooking, baking or making clothes or a gift)  for folks, giving to someone without them knowing who it is.

I have never been one to contribute to an organization as I an quite untrusting of things I cannot know where something is going myself.

Lately I have had the desire to make clothes or something to make anothers life easier but I have no idea where to send such things.
Would love to make baby blankets or clothing that is needed and appreciated.

One idea I had is, they were sending something to the troops sort of thing to help them keep cool in the heat. My thought was.... What about all the regular people there and the kids??? I read about people sleeping on roof tops in other counries to try to stay cool. I was thinking, gosh I would love to send them some of these things that I can make in like 10 mins, takes only maybe .50 cents in materials and would really keep a person cooler.

I wanna do something cool to make someones life a little easier but have no idea what?  I do sew for the local hospital a little but I want to do more.  Hubby and I have cooked at a soup kitchen when he was home.

What things do other folks do? Any ideas or suggestions.
You know what??? I would love to go to another country and volunteer for a month or two once a year. A hospital or an orphange.  I don't belong to a church or Mosque group so have no idea how to do such a thing.
Become a midwife and go to a country with lack of good medical care for women and deliver babies one or two months a year.

asalaam alakum Sr. Azizah,
There are many organizations that help with that sort of thing. Unfortantely, I am not familar with any specific ones. I will ask around for you. While I was in Egypt this summer we visited a school for children with severe mental disabilities. They are always looking for people to help who speak English. They are willing to pay a small fee per month that would help cover some of the cost of renting an apartment and food. You will probably have to pay for ticket though. If your interested in knowing more about this school just email me inshAllah. Also, I will try to find out more info for you inshAllah. w'salam.

Dear  azizah   :)

Inteding to  help  or  give or  any  kind of  possitive actions that  is not  even put  in  process  yet  is    a charity . Therfore so far  such  a desire of you to  help  in  any way  you think you  would  like  is  accepted  as if  you  have done  it . :)

What we  give  to  the  poor like  money  or  cloth  or what ever .is from  Allah but the  person  in  the  middle  is  just a  conductor . that  is why HE  accepts even   the  desire  of  good  job  since  obviously  he is the owner  of  the material .

As for  you  the  first part  of  your  wish  is  already  fulfilled  to  gain  the reward of  your  fair  job ,as  long as  you  have the  kind  desire  :)

But  again  is  there another  question   in  your  mind  :-/?do  you want  to say  oh  great  but  i  still need  that  work  to  be done  by  me for  more  satisfaction ? : :D

Alright  dont  worry that will  happen  again  as  far as you  have  such  a  plan  in your  heart .

Allah  will   Inshalah    give you  the chance  to  do  that  at  the  proper  time  and  place
;-) ;-)

azizah is there a women's shelter in your area?  or a soup kitchen?  those are both places that are always in need of more resources and help.

peace  :-*
