Due to overwhelming request from friends in the eastern half of the country, we are very
excited to have our first singles’ networking event on the East Coast in Washington D.C.
It will be held at Teasim Café (http://www.teaism.com) Penn Quarter location, in the
heart of the city, walking distance from the famous Washington Monument and the Washington
Mall. Teaism is a very hip café and was featured recently in the Washington Post newspaper
as well as the Food Network channel on TV. We are expecting a lot of new faces from
nearby states (NY, PA, NJ and VA) and Insh'Allah will have another sold-out event. So we
highly encourage you to register early and buy your tickets since we only have limited number
of seats.

Light refreshments and drinks will be served.

Please contact us (muslimgatherings@yahoo.com) if you have any questions about
accommodations, or other event details.
Muslim Gatherings is proud to announce that the last event held in the SFO Bay Area was a
huge success. There were attendees from as far as London, England and all over the U.S.
We enjoyed meeting them all and hope it was worth their time to make the trip. We are
looking forward to keeping in touch with our new friends. The speaker at this event was Helal
Omeira, Executive Director for CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) for Northern
California. He urged us all to get involved with Muslim organizations such as CAIR and
also in our communities. We thank Mr. Omera for taking time out of his busy schedule to
come speak with us.

The evening was filled with fun activities to make sure everyone met the most number of
people at the event. There were also some very creative and hilariously funny ice breaking
games, which provided some great laughs for all of us. The event was made possible by
tireless efforts by not just our core team, but by an army of volunteers and we would like
to extend our thanks to them all.

What is a Muslim Gathering?
A Muslim Gathering is a social event set up to bring together single, young, professional
Muslims for an evening, to promote networking and communication. MG events are held in
various locations around the U.S. We have had recent gatherings in the San Francisco Bay
Area, but are planning future events around the country. Our gatherings are organized by
our team of very enthusiastic organizers that seek to meet other Muslims, and also to help
introduce professionals in the area to each other. We strive to make the evening
comfortable, as well as entertaining. We also try to mix in some short talks by local Muslim
scholars, entrepreneurs, business or community leaders with social interaction games and lots
of opportunities to mingle with others of like mind and values. The underlying tone of
the whole event is set with Islamic values in mind, i.e. no alcohol, dancing, etc. Dress
code is enforced as business casual, and dinner is also included to make the evening
complete. We also try very hard to keep the ratio of men to women as even as possible. This
makes the evening more enjoyable for all attendees.  Additionally, MG events are coordinated
by a mix of young single and married professionals who know what it is like to go through
the process of looking for a compatible spouse in this country.
