This is *not* a marriage thread

We've been talking, discussing stuff, venting and stuff about marriage and what angels all of us are here on the board and how hard things people make for each other in real life! So i was listening to a 'bayan' (religious lecture) and there was a hadith in it that goes something like... "if you want to know how kind a man is, ask his family members and *not* his friends".

Like when outside anyone can put on a mask and act like an angel but what approves of one's nobleness is one's attitude towards one's immediate family.

My question to the brothers is that, we've talked about being nice to our (future) wives, giving foot massages to them and thats all good BUT how many of us never say even one single harsh word to our moms? how many of us give foot massages to our moms? are we for real ?!

Thats something each one of us have to think in the perpsective of the situations that we come from. I think you are right in a way. I think the best way to know about the person is to ask the people who live around him. I know some brother who had their growing years outside of their homes. In that case ask his roomates if he lives in a shared apartment. Otherwise being nice to women in general per se. Isn't that an Islamic tradition and a legacy of our beloved prophet?
