Hi Charlie,

Welcome to the message board. Your wife has been a good friend and advisor to us all. She is a very warm and caring person.. get it Care-a lol  :-/ ok corny but anywayz you're very lucky to have her ;)

I hope you enjoy your retirement!! What do u plan to do? Relax at home ride the horses do some good ole' farmin... or are u thinking about travelin the world and all that?

p.s. this islam is the faith of  a billion plus people in the world.. a simple faith and belief in God, worshiping HIm and doing good works.. . sometimes gets way complicated but that's basically what it's about...

Hello Charlie,

And welcome to the board and enjoy your stay. :)

Muslims (the followers of Islam) believe in One, Unique, Incomparable God; in the Angels created by Him; in the prophets through whom His revelations were brought to mankind; in the Day of Judgement and individual accountability for actions; in God's complete authority over human destiny and in life after death. Muslims believe in a chain of prophets starting with Adam and including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elias, Jonah, John the Baptist, and Jesus, peace be upon them. But God's final message to man, a reconfirmation of the eternal message and a summing-up of all that has gone before was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) through the angel Gabriel.

Hi Charlie,

Welcome to the board - it's nice to finally meet you - azizah/cara's told us soooo much about you  :)
As the others have said, she's been dishing out advice to the rest of us too, teaching us (including bro Nomi  :P) how to cook.

Hi Charlie! Eleanor here. Welcome to the board!!  :) :) :)

It's about time you signed up here! We have heard enough about you from your wife.  I wonder though if she has told you that a horde of Muslim women in hijab (Islamic dress) will be descending on your ranch some time next year?  :-[  Ah well, if not, don't worry - nothing is definite yet and who knows, maybe by then you will love our international Madina family so much that you will invite all the guys to come along too and you can all sleep in the barn ... muahahahahaaaaa...  ;D

okay, enough babbling. Just one thing - PLEASE stick around on this board. No matter where you are in the world, you might find 5 or 10 minutes to come here and read some of the old threads or post any questions you may have about Islam. You say you are agnostic? That means you just aren't sure about the existence of God right? You neither deny nor believe? Well why not start of with some of the proofs in the Qur'an that God exists and take it from there. Insha Allah we will make a believer out of you!
Me, I converted to Islam just over 2 years ago Alhamdulillah (praise and thanks to Allah), and we have many many others on this board who have come from a range of backgrounds into Islam.

Looking forward to your participation, Insha Allah. While you are home you can spend all day reading here and your wife can do the fencing and make the hay and feed the animals etc...  []

Enjoy your stay,
peace.

Welcome Charlie!

That's the name of my dad and brother... so I already feel good about you. I, too, am glad you are back with Cara... I was getting pretty bored with hearing how much she missed you!...and a wee bit jealous!

I am a regular old American, slightly older than Cara. I remember asking the same question you did, and it gave me a warm chuckle.... ah the world you have just entered will never be the same!

After I learned what the real Islam was, not the media or cultural Islam, I too became Muslim, in my twenties. So I have been Muslim for many years, been tested by the best, I actually speak at churches and schools, and never once did I find that our religion was in error.

Don't worry, no one here will try to convert you. As a man once said... we have the best secret in America, we just want to let you in on it!

Hi Charlie,
Welcome to the board may you always have peace inshaAllah
I am really happy :-X that you have decided to join our community I am sure that we can all benefit from knowing each other.
my wife is talking about observing ramadan, what is that all about?
Ramadan is a month in the Islamic calendar this is the month when all muslims who are able to, fast ie dont eat or drink, and abstain from certain things between sunrise and sunset. For me personally it is my favourite time of the year, as one becomes far more aware of their religion etc.  Part of the reason for fasting is so that those of us who are comfortable can for at least a month feel a little bit of what it is like for those less fortunate ie those who may not be able to afford or who cannot get food to eat or clean water to drink.

If u visit the Ramadan Courtyard i am sure there are many detailed articles etc there about the significance etc of Ramadan

Again welcome and i hope that you will stay with us for a looooooong time InshaAllah  ;D so that we can benefit from your life experiences in the same way we have from your wonderful wife.

Hope u stay happy and healthy too

Hello Charlie,

First off, I get irritated if I am introduced to anyone named Charlie.  You know why ? Because everytime I hear the name Charlie I think of Willy Wonka's Choclate Factory  >:( Waaaaaahhhhhhhhh I too wanna swim in the chocolate river like the Oompaloompas  :'(

Lol...just kidding.  Welcome aboard to the warmest cyber family EVER !! And your wife is one of the reason this board is the warm and caring place it is :) I am so glad that you are home to stay because although she has been the strong woman she is, she sure needs her man to be with her.  What woman don't ?  Since you will be having the time on your hands, feel free to bask in the warmth of the Jannah family and also to share your wisdom with us.

Ramadan is an extremely special month where we are all made to realise that life is not just about consuming, be it food, material stuff etc.  It is also a month where we learn that our faith must conquer our desires.  Truly, if every month is Ramadan and if everyone fasts, the whole world will be at peace :)

Sooo...pack up your trouble in your auld kit bag and smile smile smile...

Peace.

Hello,

Charlie, welcome to the board and enjoy your stay. Can't talk much as I have a  lot on  my hand right now!. Anyway, good to see that your home now and not some million miles away. You've got a good wife there and my advice would be that the two of you spend time together, she's missed you loads and loads and loads.

She's also a hard worker, she can do fences and shift bails of hay without breaking into a sweat, heck I've even asked her numerous times is she a man trapped inside a womans body and she stronlgy denies it. But hey you can let me into the secret to what she's on, maybe me and you could devise a patent and sell it to all the women who watch Oprah all day and the men who take Homer Simpson as their role model.

Anyway you've already been introduced to me by my bro Asim. And I'm not an old man as some would make out but as old as a newborn at times....

Catch yah laters the names

Well...... the smiles I've found here at Madina today do not seem to be stopping.

:-* I am so very very Happy for Sister Caraj/Azizah.....
Before a Welcome to Madina..... Definitely Welcome Home !!

May all go well & May you find your retirement ever enjoyable & rewarding... Insha' Allah.
as for me i am agnostic and really dont know what to believe.
;) Maybe some time away from work & responsiblity there of, for some true soul searching as well .... Insha' Allah.

(well I ment that very lightheartedly & with a smile... But I must say I do believe without a doubt that we have a creator..... I believe God exists without a doubt ... & I believe we are all governed by him whether we understand it, believe it, know it, or not. I just think sometimes it's like everything got thrown in a blender & turned on high speed & now everyones trying to sift through the mixture trying to make sense of it all..... I believe it is far more simple that it all appears at first sight but I think this world/lifetime/or our own selves, likes to keep us busy &/or distracted... well something like that..... so as light hearted as the comment is, there is some sincerity in it too.... smile)

Smile...... now I finally have the opportunity to express how Caraj has always reminded me of my mother in so many ways. (not age wise but in expression, thought, & interest) She definitely has alot of the same contemplations, expressions & above all unending kindness & compassion..... you have a precious wife.... Allahu Alam. There are times here that I read her posts (quite often) & think it is word for word the way my own mother would express it. (smile)
i would like to thank all of you for being so kind to my wife while i was gone "AGAIN"  far away from home,  i am glad that she had friends that she could talk to or get some advice from.
You are right, she definitely was in good hands and good company while you had to be away. There are some pretty great people here on this forum, hopefully you'll have the opportunity to pop in every now and again & get to know them too..... Insha Allah.

Most of all, I just wish the best for you both....... very happy at your coming home reunion..... I'm sure the distance hasn't been easy !!

Charlie huh......  :-[ Being American through & through, born in Orange County & raised in a non-Islamic household, I'd have to admit ... my first association to Charlie had to be Charlie's Angels (the tv series).... that mystery voice on the other end of the phone or maybe in this case the mysterious husband we've heard about but had not met  ;) .... although Charlie Brown was a close runner up ..... smile

All in good fun ..... please take care & good care of Caraj for us !! smile.... She deserves it ...... & Allah(swt) knows best.
