| [slm] There has been a lot of definitions of optimism, or rather contagious optimism. This is one I came across recently. "If you can't find WMD, doesn't imply that there is no WMD in Iraq." Hmm.....what do we imply? I thought of some applications of this logic. Doc to patient: Patient : Doc, tell me am I sick? Doc : It depends, but you have a cancer. Patient : Cancer !!!!! How so ? Doc : We have run all the tests and we can't find any cancer growths or malignant tumour Patient : Then ???? *puzzled * Doc : The fact that you can't find cancer doesn't mean that you don't have cancer? Patient : Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa? (Looking disbeliveing at the thick wad of hospital bills he is holding) It still doesn't make sense to me... What about you? |
