| Sisters, (and Bro's) I am starting a new business. I will continue my existing one also. I just want to start another business. And would like some ideas. It is a candle business. Named after my Granddaughter. I was wondering what scents you all think are popular? As I would like to offer at least 12 if not 24 different scents. I am doing these in cute tins with lids. Was thinking glass but glass can break and these tins, one can use later after the candle is melted. I'm going to offer like 3 or 4 different sizes. In honor of my Granddaughter and as a way to thank and honor God for helping me think of ideas and giving me the strength and desire to work hard I am going to put into savings a $1. for each candle sold into a savings for my granddaughters college and future needs. And another $1. into a savings for someone elses child who is from a struggling family for that childs college fund. #1) What scents are popular? What scents do you all like? #2) Also need suggestions on how to find or pick such a reciepiant for the other fund? Thank you in advance for suggestions. |

| [slm] well i have to say i love rose, orange and jasmine (not together of course) in candles as for finding the second child u could probably find people by talking to bursaries of colleges i don't know if u have it in the US but over here most schools offer grants, bursaries for children whose parents cannot afford to send them to school, uni this would cover stuff like books and equipment... T |

| [slm] How are you planning on marketing your product? Advertise your charity idea as a scholarship. You can add it to the scholarship/bursary/awards registry at the college closest to you. The applications can come directly to you, and you can determine who is worthy recipient, and who is not. That way you can do it legally. Just set some basic guidleines for your pick. Oh and....how about watermelon. I've been looking for a watermelon candle for like...ever. Which isn't very long, since I'm not a candle person...it's not particularly my thing. | [slm], You know what I just remembered? I ad a flash back to a summer vacation of about 4 or 5 years ago! Me and my sister weren't driving, and basically stayed home for our summer vacations, and we were getting cabin fever watching those craft channels, we decided to make candles. We tried to put sea shells along the bottoms of them. It looked sooo much nicer on tv... :D But, maybe that would be a nice idea too. Or flowers and plants. [/quote] Give me some time as I already have two other businesses and critters and all, but once I get it stated I will try very hard to make sure I mail one to each sister as a sisterly gift :) I am going to offer 3 sizes and about 24 scents half fruit/food scents and half flower/other type scents. They will be in tins with lids and as to price I am not sure yet, a friend who has 20 yrs plus marketing experience think the two largest I have under priced at $5.95 for and 8 oz and $7.95 12 or 16 oz. Not sure yet. Cantalope does but I'll have to see if I can smell a watermellon :D You and Twilight have a great idea about a recipiant for the other college money. As to legally :D I guess since I am earning it legally I can give it to whomever I want :) I kind of wanted to start saving it now like I would do for my granddaughter and in 18 years I hope it will take care of 4 to 6 years of schooling. (Whatever I save and the interest) So I don't know if hooking up with a college now would do it. Because I feel so blessed and since my granddaughter will be taken care of I want to do this for another child whose parents are struggling and such. Maybe it sounds silly. I know so many good people who struggle just to pay rent and put food on the table and don't think they would ever be able to put their child through college even though it is many years away. Keep the ideas coming please. |

I've followed the same root and I am actually developing my business as we speak...or chat :D Inshallah once it is up and running, I'll do some advertising on madina ;) as for scents....there's one scent that's just heavenly..it's cucumber melon...yuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmy..you just want to eat it right up! Vanilla is another favorite of mine. What about gardenia? |
