[slm] I hope turkey gets like totally thumped this saturday by england. It would suit those turks, who take football to be the new religion in turkey, just right if they got whopped big time. Ima hoping: E n g l a nd 9 T u r k e y 3 with Hakan Sukur (who got major flak for inviting his teammates to Jummah prayer during the world cup) getting a totally brilliant hatrick I still remember feeling like such a sucker supporting Saudia Arabia in the World Cup finals when they played Germany and got thrashed 8 to nil. What were them saudis doing spending all that kazillion riyals on a hopeless team which was never gonna go anywhere? What were they thinking? And for what purpose? To pump up their pride and so they could stick their chests out and claim to be somebody?? Ouch! |

Or we could have the headlines as Pakstan, when they won the cricket world cup most of the players thanked Allah by going into Sijdah on the playing field and by later going on a team trip to Umrah. Then again I'm more a military man and I'd rather fancy my chances with Shaheen 1 and her progress. You know what I mean don't yah Nomi. Salaams Hanif |

[slm] I agree with "lucidly hyper Mr. Bean" :P when he says that sports shoudn't become one's religion and watching a whole day cricket match is such a wastage of time! What many of you dont know is that.... i've listened to a 'religious' talk delivered by Saeed Anwar and Mushtaq Ahmed!! yes they were here in a mosque with the Tabligh Jamaat, Inzi and his family is very religious too, waqar's younger brother is also attached to the jamaat and he himself is becoming a good Muslim mashaAllah. Remember his 'bismillah irrahman irraheem' before his interviews?! So please do not label them as drunkards!! And Hanif bhai you arn't upto date with the happenings in Pakistan :) We now have got a Fighter jet with nearly the same capabilities of F-16 ;D ... it'll be in production soon inshaAllah [slm] PS: I like turkeys goal keeper, he's an eshtylish guy :P plus has a beard :) |

Besides who are we to question other's eeman - only Allah 'azza wa jal can and will judge this question on Yawm ul qiyaamah. And Hyper - isn't it better to support the muslim team? jmo ::) [wlm] |

I have to say Pakistan team seem to be improving in Deen, as u don't hear much about their extra cirricular activities nowadays. But I remember when the worldcup was in England, and Some people had pictures of Shoaib Akhtar in a nightclub, wearing a white suit with a bright pink shirt, I saw the picture with my own eyes, it was circulated all around my uni. In those days it was an embarrassment to say you supported the Pakistan team |
