why do some get immediate responses

       salam,
A lot of us come here for brotherly or sisterly advice, and a lot of the board members are generous in giving advice by taking their time and my Allah(swt) reward them for it,  but I feel some people get immediate  responses no matter what their request are, and some people get none and I just wanted to know why.

The nature of this question interests me.  However, let it remain my private thoughts for the moment.

As for myself, I respond based on how confident I am of providing a good answer, Inshaa Allah, and not by virtue of the poster's name.

Wassalam

I don't think it has to do with the person but the request. When someone comes on and posts a lengthy complicated question or difficult request it is hard to answer or try to help, sometimes people just don't know the answer or don't want to answer wrongly.  After all, this is a message board, not a request help line service although we all do try to help out each other from what we can and what we know.

as salaamu alaykum,

Hmm.. I know for sure that I write back more to people I know than to people I don't know.  This is because it's easier to answer a question if you know the background/context from which it stems.

If I don't know you, your family, your community, your level of knowledge, your orientation in deen (what movements/scholars you like/prefer) it is more difficult for me to answer a seemingly simple question which may be mis/interpreted in a way that is not what I intended.

the solution:  post more  :-[  ;)

wasalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah :-)

I think it's the same reason as why in real-life (offline), you would probably respond/communicate with someone you knew more about, than someone who is a relative stranger.

Hehe.. I'm not sure that's always the best solution. I would add the word "wisely" to the end of that sentence ;)

I think there are several reasons but none for neglect reason.
Myself, sometimes I am out here several times a day for a few days and off a day or two, or like today I am only out here now as I was out od town all day.
I've noticed sometimes there is hardly any posting one day and the next there is more than one can read.   ;)
Sometimes if I read a post and someone gave what I think is great advice and there is nothing better I can add, I don't post.
Sometimes I just post and post and post  ;D  guess we can call them my talkative days  ::)

Other times if I have no experience in an area and don't feel I can contribute something worth it, then I read and don't post.
So you see there may be many reasons for this. Sometimes there is so much to read that I miss a post and find it later, days later.
Oh and then there are posts you can tell many read, but maybe they read it but had not feed back.
