| My hubby and I were just having a discussion and I thought it would be a great thread to start. He is breathing down my back right now reading this as I type from behind me :D He got rid of some DVD's he had cause he said he knew I didn't like them. I told him he was free to watch what he wanted, I was not his mother, just don't watch them when I am home as I did not want to see them NOR hear them even from the other room. :( I do watch movies but only watch what makes me go away feeling happy. I like uplifting, encouraging ('Cool Runnings' is a great motivator) He said, It's just a movie ::) I told him, no they are not just movies, that meaness, cruelty, hate and evil exsist in the world, why in the world would I pay to see such things :( Why would I find someone screaming, hurting or dying ENTERTAINMENT ??? Men are from Mars, woman are from Venus and my husband is from Pluto ;D OUCH !!!! he just smacked me in the back of my head lol :-/ |

| well, i don't watch a lot of movies. But i will watch ones i like over and over and over. The Lord of the Rings and the two towers i have seen about 5 times or more!! It has death and violence but it also has many underlying themes which are compelling to me. I fancy myself as Legolas or possibly Sam, but was talking to a friend of my wifes and she thought she was more like smegal (have no idea how to spell that one) with the inner demon fighting him. Hey, maybe i know your husband, i am from pluto also |

| MOVIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alhamdolillah I stopped watching em some 3 years back :) . [i]And please DO NOT watch this movie if you haven't already coz you'll end up breaking few rules of Allah as there are a couple of stupid scenes![/i] - Legend of the Fall ? Have you watched it Mike ? Back in days when i was into movies i used to rate it more than "Braveheart" even! |

| Braveheart!!! that was my favorite before the ring. But I have not seen Legend of the fall. I guess it is worth watching? My wife and i go to blockbuster once in a while and we come home empty handed half the time. |

| um... yea Mike, you can watch it if you want to and probly it'll be another of those movies which you've watched more than once! Hey have you watched "The Message" the movie about Islaam? its worth watching as well, trust me. |

| Salaams, Haven't watched movies for some time, however everyone should watch the moveis by Soundvision yes we've got the whole set at home and they contain NO SEX, DRUGS, MURDER, or ROCK and ROLL. | Salam, "Just" a movie, hmm...? Got this off Arshad's website: Brownies with a Difference ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------- Many parents are hard pressed to explain to their youth why some music, movies, books, and magazines are not acceptable material for them to bring into the home or to listen to or see. One parent came up with an original idea that is hard to refute. The father listened to all the reasons his children gave for wanting to see a particular PG-13 movie. It had their favorite actors. Everyone else was seeing it. Even other Muslims members said it was great. It was only rated PG-13 because of the suggestion of sex-- they never really showed it. The language was pretty decent-- only three instances of vulgar words were used in the whole movie. The teens did admit there was a scene where a building and a bunch of people were blown up, but the violence was just the normal stuff. It wasn't too bad. And, even if there were a few minor things, the special effects were fabulous and the plot was action packed. However, even with all the justifications the teens made for the 13' rating, the father still wouldn't give in. He didn't even give his children a satisfactory explanation for saying, "No." He just said, "No!" A little later on that evening the father asked his teens if they would like some brownies he had baked. He explained that he'd taken the family's favorite recipe and added a little something new. The children asked what it was. The father calmly replied that he had added dog poop. However, he quickly assured them, it was only a little bit. All other ingredients were gourmet quality and he had taken great care to bake the brownies at the precise temperature for the exact time. He was sure the brownies would be superb. Even with their father's promise that the brownies were of almost perfect quality, the teens would not take any. The father acted surprised. After all, it was only one small part that was causing them to be so stubborn. He was certain they would hardly notice it. Still the teens held firm and would not try the brownies. The father then told his children how the movie they wanted to see was just like the brownies. Our minds trick us into believing that just a little bit of evil won't matter. But, the truth is even a little bit of "poop" makes the difference between a great treat and something disgusting and totally unacceptable. The father went on to explain that even though the movie industry would have us believe that most of today's movies are acceptable fare for adults and youth, they are not. Now, when this father's children want to see something that is of questionable material, the father merely asks them if they would like some of his special dog poop brownies. That closes the subject. |
