| [slm] My fiancee emailed me last week and in the email he hinted that we may possibly get married when I go to visit Dubai in November. I am kinda freaking out that I may actually be getting married...but thats not the prob... I had though that I was going to visit and meet his family and see the country for myself and then sometime next year we would get married... so now... what do I do about a wali? I don't even know any man here whom I know that is Muslim and can be my wali, so what am I gonna do when I'm over there if we do?? Ameera |

| Assalamu Alaikum Sister Ameera I am new to Islam and unfortunately can not offer you advice. :'( The olny reason I even know what a wali is, is because I just looked it up ;) In'shallah, everything will work out for you. | [slm] i have cousins in the Gulf, but i have not had any contact with them for years. however, if there is no wali, the local leader of muslims, or the imam of the mosque, should take over the function of the wali. ask your fiance: since he is calling you there, he can arrange a sheikh to act as wali. |

| [slm] Well sister Ameera first of all a lot of congratulations may Allah make this marriage blessed for both of you. Secondly welcome to Dubai in advance and don't worry about wali I'll be glad to help in case you need it so. Please do send me PM if you need any kind of information or help regarding UAE. Your problem reminds me a incident few years back I met one local person in our building lift and he asked me "Are you muslim?" I was kind a surprised of his question since I didn't know him I replied "Yes". He said he wanted me to go with him. I didn't know what he was talking about. The other person explained me actually he wanted me to witness a marriage. I went with him and latter I came to know there was one Russian lady and one local gentleman who were going to get married and they were running short of one muslim witness. |

| Salaams, Subhanallah, Allah be praised. A noble offer by brother Faisal Siddique may Allah look favour you in every transactrion. I also have a cousin in Dubai who may be able to help you. In fact I've got a couple but insha-allah it'll be ok. However, before you get married let him know any of your concerns, thats if you have any, and then say bismillah to marrige. Salaams Hanif |

| AA Islamically speaking, once you have agreed to marriage, and are sure about it, and got over the wali hurdle, it is preferable not to delay it any longer. So from me ... Congratulations!!!!! May Allah SWT give you and your husband happiness in this world and in the hereafter. |
