Getting Married

Inshallah on December 26th 2003, I will be getting married to a wonderful guy. Mashallah!  Alhamdulilah both of our families get along with each other rather well.

There are a lot of married folk on here and well I guess I'm looking for tips, advice, stories, comments etc...anything really, just so that I am able to get a better understanding/outlook on it all.  Honestly..it still feels like one big dream that I cannot wake up from!

Masah-Allah, Allah be praised. What good news. I hope it goes ok for you and your family.
Just take it easy and take each day as it comes in the first year of marrige.

Salaams,

Hanif

W'salaam :)

You know, I'm sort of afraid, but happy as well.  Does that make any sense??  I guess I don't know what I should be doing in those first few weeks/months once I am married...especially if I will be living with my in-laws  (not sure where I'll be living as yet).

I'm also starting to feel a bit sad--leaving my family...not living with them I mean.  My grandmother has already cried a few times and has even told me that there are tears ready to fall.   :(

as'salaamualaikum ;D

:-X :-* MABROOK!! :-* :-X

i too got married recently, alhamdulillah. :-X  it's the best feeling in the world. :)  i don't know if i've mentioned this before, but the best advice i got was as follows:

take everything in.

don't worry about anything.  there will be brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends to worry for you. :)  enjoy each and every moment. :)  that is how you will inshAllah remember everything that went on at the wedding. :)

the week of my wedding - i was totally chill, alhamdulillah. :)  i spent a lot of my time with my sister (who came from saudi :)) and some cousins that came the weekend before. :)  as you said you are already missing your family, but turn that into something positive. :)  spend more time with them doing random things - like having islamic trivia after dinner. :)  that way, you gain knowledge, and share good times with the family. ;D

i moved after i got married - from houston to detroit.  my husband has family here, but they don't live ever so close.  my in laws, unfortunately, live in toronto. :(

anyhow, i could go on forever . . . enjoy enjoy enjoy. :)  may the Lord, guide you two on the straight path, make you the strength for each other, and give you both a lot of sabr to understand one another. :)  ameen! ;D
