Status of sent email.....possible?

Assalaamu 'alaikum I was wondering if it is possible to check the status of sent email...i.e. when it is read/opened etc. JazakAllah khair Wassalam

[wlm] You can optionally request reciepts from the mail router AND the receiver.  However, it is entirely optional for both the router and the receiver to honor the request.  Fortunately, most routers do sent a receipt back if requested (that the mail was delivered to such and such account).  On the other hand, it is entirely upto the receiving person to sent a receipt back.  The receipt acknowledgement mechanism is usually automated through the receiver's email program.  In short, don't expect a reciept back from the reciever, but the modern network is so reliable that you'd in all probability be notified of a non-delivered email. Outlook Express supports read-receipts through Tools->Options->Reciepts.  It does not support delivery receipts though.  Other email clients may or may not support both options.
