| [move] [slm] [/move] Hey everybody, it's me [color=purple]Nafisa![/color] I'm back! Didja miss me? [i]*crickets chirp in the background filling the silence*[/i] Well, I haven't really been anywhere and I couldnt log in as my old self so I decided to lurk around in the shadows. Then I got fed up and now I'm re-registered. I've also turned into a tree. I felt it apt cos Orange trees need warmth and I always feel too cold (UK is freezing, let me tell ya). I also saw lots of them in Spain which I've just come back from. I went to Cordoba and saw the Great Mosque with the red and white columns. They've also got Catholic stuff in there too but it looks really dour and miserable in comparison to the Islamic architecture IMHO!! Also saw the Alhambra palace in Granada. that place is gorgeous. Really loved it. Got some nice kaftans from Morocco too. Altho' i wasn't too chuffed with the locals. These guys kept saying "Namaste". Hello, how many hindu peeps wear a hijab?!? South Asian doesn't equal Hindu. grrrrrrrrr. well, that's all from me. |

| [slm] Solitude, Yah, I remember you when you were a young whippersnapper, LOL! :-* Feels good to be back on the boards. Anyhoo, the trip to Spain was really great. If you ever get a chance to visit please do. I went to Andalusia (South Spain) and visited Seville, Cordoba and Granada. I stayed in Malaga where there were soooooo many Brits! I think they were a bit confused when they saw a coach load of muslims turn up! It was great visiting Cordoba. Altho' you can't pray in the Great Mosque which is a bummer. Anyway, the Qibla in the mosque faces the wrong way. Not sure why they did that but apparently it's cos it faces the same qibla direction as Syria which was where the architect was from. Took some great photos of the Alhambra. Went to Gibraltar and fed a monkey a peanut! They can bite tho' so I didn't go too near them. Oh, and we saw wild dolphins swimming in the ocean. Altho i felt a bit seasick on the boat cos i had a bit of fizzy drink. Morocco was very exciting cos it was nice to visit a muslim country. It's a pity they thought we were hindu! I wanted to stock up on kaftans but i think i bought a men's one ::) My other one has a pointy hood on it and is for girls (phew!). I stayed in Tangier which is quite touristy. I ate couscous and had mint tea, yum! I want to go back and eat more moroccan cuisine. All in all a good holiday. Inshallah, you can escape the cold weather, Solitude. I have my heater blasting away as I type. :D Anyone got any travel experiences to share? |
