Am I getting wiser or weirder?

The busy time of year for my business has begun and this last week begins the weeks of being out of town a few days per week..

In the motel last week I had the oppertunity to watch TV. Fight with my husband for the remote  ::) and fuss with him about what we watched.
I have a TV at home but no cable or satelite dish as I became totally disgusted at what was on TV. Why pay for trash? This was about a year ago.

I now only watch DVD's that I feel are pleasent and uplifting. And for news I listen to the radio and also read it on the pc. I do miss the nature and science channels though.

After being away from the TV so long I was sickened by what was on the majority of channels. PEOPLE FIND THIS ENTERTAINMENT???    :o
Makes you wonder about all the sicko's and weirdo's out there.
This motel only had like a doz channels, 2 were news cnn and such. 2 to 3 were those goofy murder police investigation type stuff. One had autopseys on it and the others were sex. violence and / or drugs.
Geeeeshhh, is this what we have become? It's scarey folks   :(

I am getting either, wise, weird or old and maybe a little of all three   ;)
Who else finds this scarey, and I can hadly believe people let their kids watch this garabage.   I find no pleasure in hearding police cases and seeing crime scenes and bloody bodies and autopsey's and people being mean and woman getting raped and all this stuff.

And my country wants to liberate others in other countries ???    :o    >:(

I second that 110%.  In one of my other posts I wrote about the fact that pop music is so crude and sexual and TV is just as bad, if not worse.  I'm so sick of seeing women half naked exploiting their bodies all for the enjoyment of males and also so other females can covet what they don't have.  Just this morning, my son was watching Nickelodeon ( a kid's channel).  No harm in that right? Wrong!!!  I looked up to see the host.  A fourteenish year old girl scantily clad in low rider jeans, belly showing, cleavage bearing push up bra, lots of make-up and immaculately done "big hair". If I sound bitter I am.  It makes me so disgusted and also sad.  I'm so happy that I've decided to wear hijab.  I pray that we don't "liberate" the world.
I don't know if I'm getting old, I'm not even thirty yet and I definitely don't think its weird to have high morals and want to surround yourself with things that reflect this.  So I guess you must be getting wiser, In'shallah :)

Much love and happy Ramadan to everyone

Totally agree on this we don't have a TV full stop, my husband thoroughly refused to have one in our house. Funnily enough I don't actually miss having one, my friends can't believe I don't get bored, they keep asking me what I do all day... I told them to log on here  ;)

Wassalaam
PS I aint old either:D

Glad tidings are for the strangers!  ;D

Be happy that you are feeling different from the majority who accepts such corruption and filth!  Yes, you are weird, strange in fact, so be happy with that  :)

"Islam began as something strange, and it shall return to being something strange, so give glad tidings to the strangers."  (reported by Muslim)

Allah says in the Qur’an, "If only there had been, in the generations preceding you, people having wisdom, prohibiting others from evil in the earth; except a few of those whom we have saved from among them." (Hud 116).

This verse speaks of the few people on earth, the "strangers", who prohibit mankind from evil. These are the same people the Prophet  [saw] spoke about when he said, "Islam began as something strange, and it shall return to being something strange, so give glad tidings [ar. Tooba. This is a tree in Paradise. So the Prophet  [saw] is giving the good news of Paradise to these strangers.] to the strangers."

It was asked, "Who are those strangers, O Messenger of Allah?"

He replied, "Those that correct the people when they become corrupt." [Reported by Abu Amr al-Dani, from the hadith of ibn Masoud. It is authentic according to al-Albani.

Another narration says, "Those that correct my sunnah which has been corrupted by the people after me."]

In another narration he said in response to the same question, "They are a small group of people among a large evil population. Those who oppose them are more than those who follow them." [Reported by ibn Asaakir. It is authentic according to al-Albani.]
