Folks,

A bit last minute, but it has taken quite a bit of effort to pull off.
Would love to see any Jannah folks from Northern/Central Jersey

======

A group of fellow Muslims & I have formed "Muslims for Democracy",
a local political organization in Mounmouth/Middlesex county in NJ.
For our first event we have invited the Republican mayor of
Middletown (a town of about 65,000 people) and Alex DeSevo, her
Democratic opponenet.  Mr. DeSevo has accepted the invitation, and
we are waiting for a response from the mayor.

The iftar will be held from 4:30pm - 6:00pm in Middletown, which
is about 50 minutes from Jersey City.  It's about a 5 minute
drive from the Garden States Arts Center (in Holmdel) off of
exite 116 on Garden State Parkway.  Please let me know by Friday
evening if any of you would be interested in attending.  This will
ensure that we have a definitive headcount & don't run out of food.

Description of "Muslims for Democracy"
========
Dear Brother/Sister:

As-Salam Alaikum,
Hope things are well with you, with the grace of God. Several
members of the community (Brothers: Muhammad Ismail Ali, Tameer
Naeem, Yassin Mian, Yusuf Dadani, Ali Raza, and Yasser El-Menshawi)
have decided to setup an informal organization called: "Muslims for
Democracy".  The purpose of this organization is to provide a
platform for political candidates to interact with the Muslim
community in Monmouth county.  For now, the organization will
restrict its activity by only dealing with local issues.  With the
passage of time the board might add state or national issue to the
agenda.  "Muslims for Democrary" will also be a platform for the
Muslim community to voice its opinions/concerns to the candidates
running for political office. This organization will be non-partisan
and will not endorse candidates running for any political office.

The "Muslim for Democracy" organization will recruit a board member
from every major Muslim organization or Islamic center/mosque in
Monmouth County to ensure that all issues relevant to the local
community are heard.  In addition, the Board membership needs to
reflect the diversity of the Muslim community in Monmounth county.

On a final note, "Muslim for Democracy" is in discussion with the
American Muslim Union (a northern NJ organization dealing with
local & state issues) to become a local chapter.

Please let us know, if you have any comments/concerns/suggestions.
Thank you.

Wa-Salam Alaikum.
