I'm new to learning Islam.

Hello everyone,
As the subject of my message says I'm kinda new to learning about Islam.  I was raised Catholic and went to a Catholic high school but was never really religious and my senior year we had a world religions class.  One of the religions covered was Islam.  So, two years ago I got the brief overview of the religion but since then my curiosity has slowly grown and been somewhat dormant until a few days ago when it just exploded and now I'd like to learn as much as I possibly can.  Does anyone know of any good books or websites that I could read or look at?

Thank-You!  :)

Salaam and hello there Megan,
I too came here to learn about Islam. I came to this site about
2 years ago. Welcome and enjoy your stay on the boards.

I can honestly say you have picked a wonderful site to come and start learning. I have learned so much here. (I too was raised Catholic although we left the catholic church when I was 12 ish I still did the schooling, communion and comfirmation stuff)

I feel confident you will find the folks here most kind, loving, compassionate and willing to help you and answer any questions you have and what they don't know how to answer  they will refer you to someone or some place who has the answers.

A really neat place to obtain some very well written and free pamplets is
www.WhyIslam.org they have about 8 to 10 different free and very well written pamplets on Hijabs, worship, beliefs and more.
They also have a toll free number 1-800-Why-Islam
They are well written and packed with info.

This board has many very knowledgable and very kind brothers and sisters who are always willing to share what they know, have learned and talk about their beliefs and way of life.

Again, Welcome, you are truly blessed to be lead to the right place. I am not saying that in a converting type way. I myself am not Muslim. But because these people will be here for you to answer any questions and they do it in a loving way and not trying to shove things down your throat.

Welcome
