| [slm] Dear Sisters & Brothers, As-salaamu alaikum wa Rahamatullahi wa Barakathuhu, I hope all of you are enjoying this window of opportunity bestowed on us by Allah (SubHana Wa Ta`ala). Alhamdullilah it’s already the middle of this holy month. I pray to Allah (SubHana Wa Ta`ala) that He accepts all our Ibadah and forgives our sins. Ameen. I also wanted to bring to your attention the Islamic Awareness Center (IAC) in Binghamton under the stewardship of Br. Mohamed Afify and Sr. Kathy Al-Jallad, who are very involved in the work of Dawah, especially among our non-Muslim neighbors. They run a Dawah center with books, pamphlets and resources and give talks and presentations for various community schools and organizations. Some of the topics include "What is Islam and who are Muslims?", "Islamic Beliefs", "The Goals of Islam", "Who is Allah?", "Jihad and the Sword", "The Veil", "Ramadan" and a simple but beautiful power point presentation on Hajj to groups like the Broome County Council of Churches. May Allah (SubHana Wa Ta`ala) accept their efforts. Ameen. Despite all their current work, they are handicapped by the lack of a laptop and projector for their activities. Knowing the importance of the role of media as an important asset in presenting Islam, they have turned to their brothers and sisters nearby (that is us) for help. But the fact is they are the ones helping us, by asking us to become beneficiaries of this ongoing reward. Together InshaAllah we can buy these things and help them continue their good works. This is the month of Ramadan the month of giving, sharing and the month of Allah (SubHana Wa Ta`ala)'s mercy. Let us participate in this endeavor, no matter how much we can give, and make our Hereafter better InshaAllah. For further details & donations please contact: Br. | UPDATE 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [slm] Alhamdullilah we are happy to inform you guys the following a) The projector(*modified* computer projector) has been accquired Alhamdullilah b) An old PIII lap top with a 98 OS has been bought c)We have 50 $ left in our budget as of today Like to hear suggestions/help about equipping the lap top (vis-a-vis our budgets,Win 98 OS and IAC 's need to do presentations) a) Anti virus soft ware - which?/how much? b) Microsoft office LISCENCED version - which?/compatiblity with the OS and present versions/costs? c) Any other ideas? | asaslaam alakum, is the projector an overhead projector or a computer projector? just wondering because if it is the kind that projects the computer screen, maybe you can get powerpoint and do your presentations on it. You can get powerpoint really cheap if you are a student or teacher, i can't rememeber from where, i will ask inshAllah. w'salam. |
