| There is only One Truth by Aminah Kamble ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- In a world full of people having different opinions and views about life, how can we ascertain what the truth is? Only one out of many possibilities, theories and beliefs is the truth. Anything other than that truth is false. Our planet earth is round in shape and revolves around the sun. That is the truth. Any other statement other than this would be false. Hence, people who once believed that the earth was flat, and that the sun revolved around the earth were very much mistaken. They could believe in the flatness of the earth as much as they liked, but that did not make it the truth. When students are tested in an examination, they are asked several questions. In a general knowledge test, for example, they may be asked questions like who built the Taj Mahal, or who invented the telephone, or who was the first man to set foot on the moon. Each question has only one correct answer. All answers besides that answer are incorrect. And there is no limit to the number of incorrect answers people may give. Let's say in a playground where several children are playing, little Richard comes across a scorpion. He kills it by crushing it under his boot. If anyone were to say that Jane killed the scorpion, it would be an untruth. Tim didn't do it, Betty didn't do it, Simon didn't do it. Richard's dog also didn't do it. Not having been actually present during the killing of the scorpion, we could come up with lot of theories to explain its death. In fact, the number of theories people may come up with can be endless...........One might even say that it was a goblin that was responsible for killing the scorpion. Another may say it was an alien from outer space. Or another may claim it was a gorilla that had escaped from the zoo. A person could come up with many bizarre ideas! But only one possibility is the truth, and anything other than that truth is false. Out of the numerous theories, we may like to think that nobody could possibly believe that a goblin, or an alien from outer space or a gorilla may have killed the scorpion. However, that is not the case at all. In this world we can find quite a number of people who do believe in unreasonable, irrational, illogical and fantastic theories. In other words, you will find people believing in apparent falsehood even though reason and good sense suggests that the truth has to be something else!! Now let us consider something about which there is a great dispute. How did life originate on earth?! This belongs to the realm of the unseen. We weren't there physically to see how it originated, so people have come up with a lot of theories.......or beliefs. They believe this and they believe that. And that is how we have so many different religions. Correct? Now I don't even want to consider religion. That is not the scope of this discussion. My curiosity is merely to know what is the Truth. In schools and colleges today, they teach this: they say life originated on earth as a result of chance. And human beings evolved from apes. I'm sure you are familiar with this concept. Anyway, whatever it is they teach is not a proven fact. It is a belief.....a hypothesis. The evidence that is presented to support this belief is not convincing. Where there is design, there has got to be a Designer, plain and simple. So we agree there has to be a Designer. But what a lot of beliefs do we entertain regarding this Designer! We can't see Him for one thing. So how do we know what He is like? So if someone were to draw a picture of this Designer and tell you this is your Designer, would you believe it? I hope not! I want you to consider something important which is related to this case. Please think seriously about this! You have not seen me. If you were to draw a picture of me, wouldn't that be a silly thing to do? You may draw me as a beautiful woman but in reality I may be the ugliest creature on earth! Whatever you draw would not be the truth, would it? So why draw it?!! Another point. How do you know what kind of person I am? You will know nothing about me as a person unless I myself tell you what I am like. There is also another way you can know what I am like.........and that is by reading this newsletter and the articles that I write. You can come to the conclusion that I am educated, can write English and have the ability to express myself clearly. These observations would be correct. None of us have seen Our Designer, or Creator. Whoever the Designer is must tell you Himself what He is like. Muslims call their Designer Allah. Not because they think or believe that is His name, but because the Designer Himself informed them that this was His name. God tells us what He is like and not like in the Qur'an. Subhanallah! To God belong the most beautiful names. And there's 99 of them to be found. Just pondering over the names of God can be overwhelming! He is so Great, so Merciful, so Kind, so Forgiving! |
