Sunday school kids q's?

assalamu alaikom

I teach at a Sunday school at the mosque in my city and sometimes the kids ask questions
and I'm not sure about the answers. Can you all help me out?

1) Is there a punishment/penalty for touching the Qur'an when you are not in a state of
wudhu'?

2) Actions are judged and rewarded by intentions right? What if your intention is good
but you don't have much knowledge about the action, what is your reaction?

3) There are 4 sacred months in the Islamic calender. What qualifies them as sacred? The
kids couldn't understand why Ramadhan isn't a sacred month.

There are more, but don't want to overload  everyone all at once.

Jazakom Allaho khaira

[slm],

Dear sister,

I asked a sheik here in Saudi Arabia about some of your questions and this is what he had to say.

q #1 There is no certain punishment for this but it is indeed sinful but some say that it is ok to touch it while wereing gloves and others say no it is sinful even if you are wearing gloves so there is a differnece of opinion.

q#3 There is no specific qualifications that make them sacred they were the 4 choosen by Allah so that is the qualification.

Hope this is helpful :-*

Fee aman Allah,
Amena

the answer to your question #2 is something like this:

if you have good intentions, but you are ignorant whether such actions are wrong or right, and you ended up with doing something wrong, then you are committing a sin of an ignorant person.  Please emphasise that Allah is most Compassionate, most Merciful, and loves to forgives.

Surah An-Nisa: 4:17
Allah accepts only the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and foolishness and repent soon afterwards; it is they to whom Allah will forgive and Allah is Ever AllKnower, AllWise.

Also, you should emphasise the importannce of knowledge.  There is a hadeeth (I have forgotten its source) that says something like, a good deed done by a person with knowlege is better than a good deed done by a person without knowledge.

Perhaps someone else can help me with the exact hadeeth and its source?
