The most amusing thing about this little impending visit are the demands that the home secretary refused;
1) He wanted to shut down central London for the duration of the visit..... yeah riiiight
2) Diplomatic immunity for American security agents who might 'accidentally' shoot protestors... :o
3) The right to use battlefield weapons such as tanks and mini guns... in central London is the man nuts??? Clearly the imbecile has no idea about British roads.

KEN LIVINGSTONE ATTACKED George Bush yesterday as the 'greatest threat to life on this planet'.
The Mayor of London criticised the US President on the eve of his state visit to Britain, saying his policies would 'doom us to extinction'.

Mr Livingstone has made no secret of his anti-war stance.

He has organised a peace party at City Hall to show his opposition to the US-led assault on Iraq. And he is expected to take part in an alternative state procession in protest at the redcarpet treatment Mr Bush will get from Tony Blair and the Royal Family.

'I actually think Bush is the greatest threat to life on this planet that we have most probably ever seen,' the Mayor said in an interview with The Ecologist magazine. 'The policies he is initiating will doom us to extinction.'

Referring to claims of electoral fraud in the 2001 US poll, he added: 'I don't formally recognise George Bush because he was not officially elected, so we are organising an alternative reception.' Tens of thousands of people are expected on the streets of London on Thursday for a The Stop the War protest at the state visit. Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy said yesterday it would not be appropriate for him to attend the planned demonstrations.

But he urged others to do so. He said: 'I think we should use the opportunity to leave the President in no doubt as to the extent of public concern about the way events, tragically, have unfolded.'

Meanwhile, it emerged yesterday that security for Mr Bush's visit to Mr Blair's Sedgefield constituency on Friday will cost £1million.

More than 1,300 police officers have been drafted in, with the Durham force admitting it is the 'biggest security operation ever mounted' in the county.
