| [slm] Please help me!! someone in the house installed something and now all these ads keep popping up, it keeps changing the homepage and it added all these adult links to the toolbar on every users' browser in the house including the kids!!! I keep deleting them and a few minutes later they keep reappearing. Ameera |

| [slm] ameera you can run this software called Ad-Aware to clean stuff out... make sure to the quarantine in case it deletes something important you can restore it and don't delete anything that might be important especially system files and .dll's http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ |

| [slm], Try disabling the windows messaging service also. I also have google popup blocker installed. |

| [slm] I hope that your computer is now ok. Usually ad blocking/removing softwares are one step behind the adwares. The one you mentioned is one sneaky piece of evil capitalist thinking, and in rare cases, the only solution is to reinstall the operating system.. I have seen many systems plagued by porn sites popping up from nowhere and the owners, with reddened faces, almost dying of embarrasment. Most of the time, they are not at fault, only victims of their non-techie-ness. This is a problem with microsoft internet explorer and its derivatives only btw. Other browsers are mostly immune or can easily be fixed. In short, its best to avoid internet explorer if possible. The other solution is to get google bar, which has a nice popup manager, and read-up on popup management (no rocket science there). |
