How to deal with such men ??

Assalamu Alaikum

Have you guys ever come across men in masjid who look here and there at times while *in* Salaah? How do you deal with them?

I've been having this wild thought since long i.e. approaching them from behind while they are doing it and whisper it to them...  "neechay daekho" (Look down)... Never done it as yet but can't resist any longer

Can't think of any other way... any suggestions?

Assalamu Alaikum
Asim Zafar.

PS:.... and doing the disappearing act after "the" whisper?

Just be grateful that such people come to the mosque in the first place.  Ordinarily they might not!

One should never harass people for personal behaviour in the mosque which doesn't infringe others' rights.

For example, never harass or stare at the brother with long hair, with an earring, etc.  And the same goes for you scary sisters.  Never go after other sisters who wear nail polish, whose dupatta is slightly transparent, whose elbows show, etc.

If you really have courage, then do as the prophet used to do: simply stand up after or before the prayer and give general naseeha (advice) to the congregation about whichever you issue you are worried about.

This way the whole congregation benefits from your advice, and the guilty parties aren't spooked, singled out and paranoid about coming to the mosque again.

Anyhow, no offense meant....

Best wishes,

I concur, Br. Nomi, if you implement your idea, someone may die of fright.....

Assalamu 'alaykum, this thread reminds me of a funny story that happened to a classmate a few years ago. Let's hear it in his words..

"We were praying Taraweeh at the village's local mosque. My grandfather was leading the prayer, During one raka'at when we were in Sajda. Someone from the back shouted "zalzala"(Earth-quake), and then all I remember is the imam jumping men in sajdas, running for the exit before everyone else."

don't ask me if this is true or not, but this is what the classmate told us. Everytime I try to imagine that situation, I burst into laughter. Can u imagine, you go into sadja, the imam is there, when you get up, he is not. Hilarious.

Assalamu 'alaykum

When i was young, my sister told me that if i looked around during salah, Allah would freeze my eyes in that direction :o .  So i never had those problems, alhamdulilah :-[ .  I'm not recommending that method, besides i don't think older men would fall for that :) .

Bro Nomi, I hope you're kidding about the whispering.

If I was doing something wrong in my prayer, I would appreciate it if someone just came up to me and told me.  In fact it's happened before, and the sister was very very very nice in telling me what my mistake was, and Alhamdulillah, I make certain in every prayer now not to do it.  Just don't be preachy about it.  Your duty is to give the message, not to force people to follow it  (in the beautiful words of a really cool shaykh, "it is your job to give the mail, not to force someone to open it and read it")...

And the best thing that can happen from this is that either they'll realize their mistake, or they will argue with you, which is great, too.  (da'wah technique I learned from Abu Khaled: get them to disagree)

Wasalaam.

In Hanafi madhab, its prohibited to take khabar from the outside in salaah. Simply put, it breaks the salaah. Check with your brother on this.

well, one wishes one had to deal with sisters. The brothers are ready to pelt you with stones if you gently mention something not to their liking.

in fact, once after fard prayers, i requested my neighbor in salat if we could please exchange our positions so the sunnah could be complete. He became angry and shouted: "it is not fard".

well, the brother must have had a bad day.
