Assalamu 'Alaikum,
I speak urdu but I'm not "urdu-speaking", Karachites are "urdu-speaking" :P.
I was about to ask what do u mean by Urdu-speaking sis yumna? Those who know and can speak Urdu or the ones who call themselves Urdu-speaking, but Nomi briefly explained it. People from Uttar Pardesh (UP), Bihar and adjacent areas/states call themselves "Urdu-speaking", and since majority of Karachiites are immigrants from those areas, they call themselves Urdu-speaking/mohajireen. My parents are from UP as well, and every time the topic of my marriage comes, I get all sorts of warnings from my mom, like " Agar tum ne Urdu-speaking logon mein shadee nahee kee na, to bus......................" and I get to tease her eveytime :). She has her own points for arguments why Urdu-speaking people should marry Urdu-speaking people only, but she is very sensitive about this issue. Khair bottom line: I am Urdu-speaking too. I enjoy the Bihari style though :P Wassalam. |

[slm] Oh I get the "get married to urdu-speaking people ONLY" (My parents' definition of urdu-speaking is probably limited to UP-ites) lectures too. Especially after my sister got married out of this circle, the pressure for me is...well...on. So yeah, urdu-speaking in either sense of the word. Born in Fort Collins, Colorado...raised in villages of Afreeka (yes literal villages), currently residing in CanaDUH and considering a move to the Andes. Wasalaam. |

I would recommend Topu Maru (or soemthing like that, can't remember spl at my age, & too lazy to look up). Great place, no taxes, no brokers, probably no neighbors either, only tourists. |
