MPACUK CONTACTS
10 DOWNING STREET
& DEMANDS PRIME MINISTER WITHDRAWS SUPPORT FOR HATE EVANGELISTS

After the amazing and historic SUCCESS by MPACUK this week when it's campaign led to the Co-operative Bank to pull its financial links with the extremist Christian Evangelical group "Samaritans Purse", after the comments of its leader who called Islam 'an evil and wicked religion' and made it his mission to convert hungry and poor Muslims. see:http://www.mpacuk.org/mpac/data/1d5f5e57/1d5f5e57.jsp

We decided to call some of their other UK supporters, first port of call number ! 10 Downing Street. It seems after research Tony Blair is backing the group.

MPACUK.org today contacted the Prime Ministers Office asked for an explanation as to why the Muslim hating Organisation the "Samaritans Purse" was being endorsed by the Prime Minister.

We explained that that Co-op has disassociated itself due to Franklin Graham's comments about Islam and his Organisations overt agenda to convert vulnerable Muslim's into Christians. We suggested that Tony Blair follow suit and should disassociate himself and condemn the wicked objectives of the avowed Islamphobic organisation or else he would be seen as backing a known Muslim hate preacher. (Maybe Dennis Macshane could stand up in Parliament and ask the Prime Minister to condemn extremist christain evangelists more vocally, or does his complaints only fall upon those who cant give him a pay rise???)

On a sadder note, many of you are aware MPAC makes a point of highlighting the failures of our Muslim Leaders so that we can force some sort of improvement and action within the bankrupt system of institutions we have. MPAC had called over 15 Mosques asking them to announce the ALERT on the Friday sermon - every single Mosque refused. Words cannot describe our frustration with the men who call themselves our leaders. 1500 Mosque Leaders have to this day been unwilling to take any action to protect the Ummah. Today was no exception. Again MPAC is taking the Prime Ministers office on alone in this campaign.

SO WHAT CAN YOU DO TO CHANGE TONY'S MIND?!

Please complain to the Labour Party and 10 Downing Street making the following points:

Operation Christmas Child has been exposed as a sinister attempt to convert children to fundamentalist Christianity by linking charity and evangelism, particularly targeting Muslim countries. (Guardian, 0/11/03,
'The evangelicals who like to gift wrap Islamophobia' by Rev. Dr Giles Fraser http://www.mpacuk.org/mpac/data/3513187e/3513187e.jsp).
Operation Christmas Child is run by the Rev Franklin Graham's organisation 'Samaritan's Purse'. Franklin Graham has called Islam "a very wicked and evil religion".
The Prime Ministers support for Operation Christmas Child is therefore extremely offensive to Muslims and undermines the Labour Party's reputation as an ethical party. If the Prime Minister continues to support this project they risk losing thousands of Muslim voters.
The Prime Minister should immediately withdraw all support for Operation Christmas Child, and should instead support humanitarian projects that are not linked with evangelism.

MPAC 'CO-OP' SUCCESS IN GUARDIAN

Bibles and anti-Islamic remarks trigger split with evangelical group

Hugh Muir
Saturday November 29, 2003
The Guardian

The Co-operative Society has severed its links with an evangelical charity whose leader in the United States condemned Islam as a "very wicked and evil religion".

Following complaints from Muslim pressure groups and its own members, the Co-op yesterday said it would no longer participate in Operation Christmas Child, a project supported by thousands of schools, churches and other organisations.

The Co-op acted as a collecting point for customers to donate shoeboxes filled with Christmas gifts, which were then distributed to needy children in South America, Africa, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet republics.

But the venture has run into controversy. There was strong criticism when it emerged that bibles and Christian literature were being inserted into gift boxes sent to Muslim countries.

Those difficulties have been exacerbated by comments made by the Rev Franklin Graham, the American evangelical minister whose organisation, Samaritan's Purse, runs Operation Christmas Child.

During the dedication of a chapel in North Carolina, one month after the terrorist attacks on the US on September 11 2001, he said: "We're not attacking Islam, but Islam has attacked us. The God of Islam is not the same God. It's a different god, and I believe it is a very evil and wicked religion." Asked to justify his stance, he said later: "I don't believe this [Islam] is this wonderful, peaceful religion."

The Co-op, which was listed as an official supporter on the charity's website, had already sought assurances that bibles were not being put into boxes collected from its stores, and OCC says there are now strict instructions banning the inclusion of religious, racial or political material.

But in a letter informing the charity of its decision to withdraw completely, the Co-op said the views of members and customers must come first.

"You are aware that we have received a large number of complaints regarding the comments of your trustee, Franklin Graham. Indeed, had we been aware of his views in advance, we would not have participated in Operation Christmas Child this year. It is unfortunate that our work together has come to an end in this way, as the shoe boxes of customers' gifts will undoubtedly bring joy to many deserving children this year."

The Muslim Public Affairs Committee (MPAC) led the appeals to the Co-op.

A spokesperson, Aafreen Khan, said: "There was utter disbelief when we found out about Co-op's support for Operation Christmas Child. Thousands of Muslims are Co-op customers solely because of the 'ethical' policy. But we are very pleased about Co-op's decision not to work with a charity linked with a known Islamophobe, Franklin Graham."

MPAC said it would continue its campaign against the project. "It is ironic that British Muslim children in multicultural schools are also gift-wrapping shoeboxes so that desperate, war-ravaged Muslims in other countries can be bribed with a goody box and a Bible."

Mark Smith, the chairman of Samaritan's Purse, said the Co-op's decision was disappointing. "I understand their reasons of course," he added.

He said the British arm of Operation Christmas Child had always stipulated that contentious material should be left out of the boxes, but it could not guarantee that foreign companies involved in the distribution abroad always adhered to the rules.

He said of the Rev Franklin's comments: "We must remember that these were made in the immediate aftermath of the terrorist attacks in Washington and New York. It was a very emotional time. I believe his comments were aimed at the extremists who perpetrated such dreadful things."

He said the charity had always operated in Muslim countries.

BLAIR CANCELS SUPPORT FOR CHRISTIAN EXTREMISTS

MPAC called 10 Downing Street to ask the Prime Minister why he was supporting a Zionist Christian organisation that had openly insulted all Muslims and called Islam an 'Evil and wicked religion'.

The Organisation not only openly insulted Islam, but made it its mission to convert hungry Muslims and thus openly criticized as taking advantage of the needy.

The Office of the Prime minister called us back with this news:

"The Blair's were not aware of the comments made by the head of 'Samaritans purse' and will now not be supporting this group"

Yet another SUCCESS by the MPAC Team given to us by Allah.

What other Organisation defends the Muslims around the world so effectively.
