Propose New Section on Science & Islam

I was wondering if anyone is interested to have a section on science & islam in this Madinah City?    :)

I am not educated in the field of science, but this has not stopped me from wanting to understand science.  In fact, reading the qur'an and pondering on some perplexing concepts like destiny, fate, time, made me more intrigued and curious....which led me to Harun Yahya's site, [HY's book: "Timelessness and the Reality of Fate"] that explained these concepts according to Einstein's theories on Relativity....

Which led me to read books on Einstein's theories made simple to mere mortals like me, with diagrams and illustrations and now, I am reading up on cosmology, astronomy (made simple again to non-scientists), and the creation/formation of the universe....and that these things were explained in the qur'an, and that scientific proofs now back up what God had explained.

Are there any scientists in this City?  Would anyone like to have a new section to begin discussion?  On any scientific stuff - that would explain scientific theories/evidence in detail, but simplified for non-scientists?

:-)

I see that this topic does not have any responses or even many hits! :(

Common brothers and sisters, dont be intimidated by science!  I mean, I am sure that many of you have heard about how the qur'an explains many things which only recent scientific discoveries have proven to be correct.   Sites like www.harunyahya.com  is an excellent place to start finding out, and many of you have heard/read that book by Dr. Maurice Bucaille.

Doesn't any of these claims about the scientific miracles of the qur'an whet any of your appetites to find out more about the scientific explainations of our planet, its creatures, and the universe we live in?  ???

Many of us have previoulsy agreed (in another thread) that knowledge on science will help our nations to be more advanced.   Surely this thirst for knowledge should not be confined to just scientists! We, mere mortals with little training in this field, should start being curious about how God made us and the things around us, and science is a study all that.

Our golden Islamic civilisation came to be because the earlier generations were interested in the environment around them, pondering on God's creations, as many a time commanded by Allah in the Qur'an.   Instill this thirst for knowledge in ourselves, and then our children will be more curious too, and who knows, they might grow up to be next famous scientists!

I mean, I regained my interest in science (after years left behind in high school) only after reading up about qur'an and science!  I started finding out more about the scientific theories, at a beginner's pace, reading the theories of relativity made simple, relativity illustrated, etc....  the books I read are meant for ordinary folks who have no background in science.

I was hoping someone else in this city was curious about God's creations too!  and perhaps he/she could share names of books, or sites he/she read on these scientific theories/discoveries that confirm God's explanations in the qur'an.

Surely this would be a more fruitful discussion than one which everyone puts their 2 cents worth on someone else's personal problem?  Surely a discussion on this topic would be about enhancing and sharing of good knowledge?

Does anyone agree with me?
:-)

[slm],

Quran does have many things that we can ponder over in the creation of Allah. And Science also tries to do the same. But off late I am becoming a bit sceptical of overzealous people trying to prove Quran/Islam by Science. And a lot of the times they get very simplistic ideas from science which makes me wonder the extent of knowledge they have in science even, and then impose them on ayahs from Quran. And I remember those ayahs where Allah curses people on attributing to Allah what He (awj) did not say! May Allah forgive our shortcomings.

I don't mean to discourage anyone from exploring science or looking for science (signs) in Quran and reflecting upon them, but just be a little extra careful. Always keep in mind that Science is not ultimate, but the Quran is!

Just some of my musings on the topic.

I don't see what is wrong with trying to prove Islam through the use of science, that is one approach, its a logical approach that appeals to one's intellect.  Dr. Zakir Naik and Harun Yahya both do it as do other daiee's.  And I really like their approach, it can't be refuted, and that it-is-the-truth.org website is fantastic.  :)

I understand Br. Eqbal's scepticism on this relationship between science and islam being simple.

Surely then its up to you to deepen your knowlege in science to see whether or not these claims are true - by reading up on these scientific discoveries.

Here's a major resource for all the scientists and science-loving non-scientists.
