| An Appeal for Donations My Brothers and Sisters in Islam: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah, Masjid Al Mumineen has existed for over two years, starting in a single rented suite at 644 E. 38th Street. In May we purchased a 7,000 sq ft building located at 4088 Millersville Road. This purchase was made with a no-interest contract for $171,000.00 with three years to pay in full. The terms of this contract include a monthly payment and balloon payments semi-annually. So far, we have been able to meet our obligations due to the generosity of Muslims in our local community. Besides contributing to the payments and our on going expenses (i.e. utilities, supplies, etc.), we have almost finished Phase I of our construction plan. This work included renovating the Masjid area and wudhu rooms. We have also completed work on the roof, which requires a payment of $5,700.00. The remaining work on the building is estimated at $35,000.00 Since we are approaching the sixth month of occupancy our balloon payment of $3,500.00 is due along with property taxes of $959.07. As you can see we are in need of additional funds in order to meet our upcoming immediate obligations. In the past we have concentrated our fundraising efforts for local Muslims, but we now see the necessity to broaden our search for funds to Muslims outside our community. Please forward this communiqué to your friends and relatives that reside in other cities, give them a chance to reap the barakah for helping to establish a Masjid, alhamdulillahir Rabbil ‘alameen. Our donations for the first six months have exceeded $20,000.00. We have an immediate need of $11,400.00 for building payments, roof, and taxes and an additional $35,000.00 to finish renovation of the building. |
