need ideas for something to get my hubby

I want to do or get something special for my husband since he qit smoking, and I know it's not easy. I thought to take him somewhere nice for dinner, but, then, I started thinking that I want to give him something he can keep, to remember that I love him, and am so happy and proud of him for quitting, so if/when he starts thinking he wants to smoke again, maybe it'll help him to not. I thought at first to get him a Quran in arabic, since the one he has is in english, and I have one in both, I thought maybe he would want one of his own. Does anyone have any ideas?  ???

You mentioned:

When my husband was out to sea (I know this is not Islamic but trying to get an idea acoss) He would email me about tough times and missing home and I got him a pocket angel, it was a small piece of metal with an angel stamped on it about the size of a quarter. I bought 2 one for him and one for me and asked him to keep it in his pocket with his change and anytime he was having a bad day or was homesick to just reach in his pocket and hold it a second.

Are there Islamic bookstores nearby that may have a stone with an arabic symbol in it? Or maybe one of those tiny plastic wallet cards from a hallmark card and gift store (book stores in malls have them also) one that has a poem or saying to a husband about how much you love him? A bookmark with a poem or words of love and encouragement for him to mark where he is reading.

If it is something he can keep easily in his wallet or pocket, he can look at it each time he wants to be colse to you when he is away at work or somewhere? The wallet cards are cool. That way if he gets the desire to smoke he can take it out and read it. I would suggest something small and that can be with him all the time for when he needs encouragement and to be reminded of your love :)

It takes a lot of strength to quite smoking, I did about 8 years ago.
And even after you get him something, a little trinket or whatever you choose, Always remember the very best gift and reminder of your love  is your arms around his neck, your kiss on his check and your voice whispering in his ear, reminding him how proud yoq are of him , how much you love him and also how much you admire his strength  ;)

iPod sets new trend in portability

By Dennis Friedel

iPod

What weighs less than two CDs, fits in your top pocket, holds an entire music library -- not to mention store a host of digital photos, track appointments and manage your to-do list?

It's Apple's iPod and it's already causing a revolution in portable digital storage and entertainment.

"It's by far the hottest item for the holiday," said Frank Mott, manager of Delaware Computer Exchange in Dover.

According to Mott, sales for the device have jumped from one to two a month to at least two per day and he expects that number to rise as the Christmas holiday approaches.

Introduced just two years ago, fans say the iPod's versatility is the primary attraction. Consider this: The iPod is compatible with both Apple-based and Windows-based computer systems.

Not only can it hold thousands of songs, photos, data and voice recordings, but it can also double as a digital audio system in one's car, truck or boat!

One of iPods most attractive features is its ability to play most audio formats including standard MP3 files and the new AAC format.

Also, if the memory card in your digital camera fills up, you can download the images into iPod, clear the memory card and keep shooting!

There's a host of accessories available for iPod including a voice recorder, power and audio adapters for vehicle sound systems, media readers, headphones and full-fledged, high-power speaker systems.

All this means that iPod can go where you go (it weighs just 5.6 ounces), can fit almost anywhere (most cell phones are bigger) and, since there are no moving parts, provide years of dependable service.

Want to take your entire music library with you? No problem! Just download songs from the internet or burn them to iPod's memory from your Mac or PC's CD drive.

Then you can take your personal music library to the office, on a jog, picnic or connect iPod to your vehicle's stereo system for taylor-made sounds on the road.

The iPod system can configure, track and play custom playlists and the device can hold up to an estimated 10,000 songs -- or one new song a day for the next 27 years!

Basically, iPod is a portable storage and audio device that's available in three configurations -- a 10 gigabyte model, a 20 GB model and a 40 GB version with prices starting at $299.

iPod is available from most online stores and local retailers.

I don't know if in North America it is to do this or not, but in the middle east you can engrave words on the insider of hte ring.
If he likes to wear them, get a silver one and write something encouraging.

Or do a small plaque that does the same thing.

Or make handmade paper and use each page to write something about how proud you are he did and the benefits of it, etc. And the aya that says Allah does not change what is in some people until they themselves begin to try to change. (inna Allah la yughayyiru ma biqawmin 7atta yughayyiru ma be anfusihim) and health info like this one:

Within:

20 minutes your blood pressure, heart rate and temperature in your hands and feet normalize.

eight hours oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in your blood normalize.

one day your likelihood of having a heart attack decreases.

two days your senses of smell and taste improve. Nerve endings start to regrow.

two weeks to three months your circulation becomes better and your breathing improves. Walking becomes easier.

one to nine months coughing, sinus congestion, shortness of breath and fatigue decrease. You have more energy.

one year your excess risk of heart disease is now less than half what it was a year ago.

five years your risk of cancer of the lung, mouth, throat and esophagus is half that of a pack-a-day smoker.

10 years your risk of dying from lung cancer is similar to that of a nonsmoker.

15 years you are no more at risk of heart disease than if you'd never smoked.

Thank you all for the great ideas. I'm going to get him a Quran in Arabic, and a cd for him to listen to. But, I'm looking for the Quran, and I find that there's different Arabic writtings...And I'm confussed now, they say it's Arabic, but in Urdu, Uthmani or Persian scrpit. I don't know what to do...I'm so confussed... ??? The book stores around me all I seem to find is translations with the Arabic in teeny tiny print next to it.
