Anyone watch the ER episode in Africa today.. I was really surprised since i haven't watched that show in ages... I thought that it was extremely well written... the plight of AIDS in Africa was highlighted as well as death and poverty... it was a very intelligently written script that incorporated how the rest of the world sees the US and what the world community thinks of US foreign policy... the only thing i didn't like was the blatant xtian xmas stuff.. like why would people in the heart of africa want to celebrate xmas? they have their own traditions u know... but anyways  I didn't get to see the beginning of the episode!!!  How on earth did he get to Africa anywayz?

Yes the show was very well written.  Carter is with an organization like Doctors without borders.  Kovac was the first to go, convinced Carter to go.  This is about the 3rd episode at least that has been done in africa.  All the times stressing the american involvement in not allowing simple drugs to be produced in other countries to help aids victims as well as easily preventable diseases like Polio with vaccines etc.

It is one of my fav shows

Just wrote a brief paper for a class on 'politics of aids' in south africa and its impact on MTCT (mother to child transmission) lemme know if any one is is interested.

There is another great video available on PBS called state of denial  which deal with this issues with extensive links
