A couple sisters and I were talking about Islamic divorces the other day amd one from Saudi mentioned (but was not sure how to spell it in English) and Islamic Divorce called hola........hoya......something sounding like that.

Does anyone know how one goes about such a divorce? The process and such and how long it takes and what is done to apply? One of the sisters I was talking to may be needing this info.
Thank you

it is called "khul`a"

look up the relevant conditions in the following link:

http://63.175.194.25/index.php?ln=eng&ds=qa&lv=browse&QR=26247&dgn=4

a search for "khula" on this site yielded this:

http://63.175.194.25/index.php?search_text_box_dsn4=khula&lv=search&formtrans=dgn%3D4%7C&ln=eng&ds=qa&sensitivity=2&searchquestions=1&searchtitles=1&searchanswers=1&searchsources=1&pg=result&offset=0&msubmit=1&submit.x=0&submit.y=0

the site is
www.islam-qa.com

you can submit a detailed question for answer

& i think a consultation with the local masjid's sheikh or imam may help.

other bro & sis's: please make your knowledge known here, thanks

As far as my knowledge is concerned this is a one sided divorce from wife to her husband. But she has to give up her Mehar and other financial benefits what she got from her husband in result of the marriage. This kind of divorce doesn't need consent of husband and the wife doesn't need to explain or have a reason to do so.

Walla hu alam ......

Actually the wife does need the husband to agree to this type of divorce, if not she needs to go to a islamic court (which is next to impossible in N.America)

She may not necessarily have to give back the maher if the husband does not ask for it.  She may have to give more, though this is discouraged as well.

It is better to check the links that brother Timbuckto posted, to get a clear picture of how this is to be done.

Where would i find good info on ‘Seperation’ of marriage? And what are the
terms and purposes of  ‘Seperation of Marriage’ opposed to ‘Divorce of Marriage’ according to
an Islamic perspective. i would be thankful for any advice or knowledge on this matter.

JazakAllah
