[slm] How does one start a post like this? It seems so standard to say my name is blah, and I live in blah blah land, and I am studying blah. LoL... Let me first begin by saying that I have been visiting this message board for about 4 years now. And I would like to give a sincere thank you to Jannah. Masha'Allah for creating and maintaining this board. I have also gained a lot of guidance and inspiration from Sister Seven. And now that I am here in Pakistan, a great deal of hope from Brother Nomi. Really in the four years I have been visiting this board I have been inspired by countless people, to many to mention now when you have to buy internet cards ;) So with that said, let me continue with my standard introduction. Let's keep my name at Dazed because I like anonymity :-) I have lived in Karachi, Pakistan for almost a year now, and I am still in the state of confusion as to what I am going to major in. I am leaning towards English. I am actually a revert to Islam. I took my shahadah almost 6 years ago at the age of 12. AlhamduliAllah it truely changed my life. My Mom also took her shahadah at the same time. I had grown up around Muslims, and when I was in the 7th grade met the nicest girl, who invited me to the masjed. And thanks to the wonderful teacher at the masjed I was convinced and took my shehadah about a month later. It has been very difficult, I went through sheer hell in high school both before and after 9/11 but AlhamduliAllah it has all only increased my iman. (InshaAllah) We decided to move to Pakistan from the good 'ole USA. And wow has it been one big adjustment! I can not even begin to explain how difficult it has been to get used to life here. The first month naturally I was deadly ill from the water, the heat, the food, and the dear mosquito bites. Then the despression set in when I realized that I wasn't living in the 'Ideal Islamic Country' I thought I was going to be living in. But AlhamduliAllah the adjusment period somewhat over, even though I learn new things every day. I can happily pass myself off as a Pathan or Afghani so I have no porblems in that area. And AlhamduliAllah I have picked up Urdu quite quickly and can now bargain with the best of the Aunties at the bazaar ;) I will write more later about Pakistan, as it seems to be quite a hot subject on this board LoL...However I am not ready to participate in any Urdu tests yet, LoL. Give me a few more months, InshaAllah. I don't know how this measures up as an introduction but InshaAllah I hope to gain more knowledge from this board and InshaAllah contribute to it as well. I found this board soon after my reversion, and I hope that this board continues to inspire and guide. InshaAllah. I'm out for now :-) [wlm] |

[slm] masha`Allah, sis welcome to my city I don't live there any more, but almost all my relatives do, & naturally, i visit it, but i have grown frightened of its size. i hope you adjust to it. you are right about the "Ideal Islamic Country". I guess it does not exist, & there is that struggle ahead to make ourselves ideal muslims some country the ideal one, & bring about a unity of the Ummah. & may Allah (swt) protect you always |
