| Salam I'm doing a dissertation on 'The effects of war on children' and suprisingly it is proving difficult to find information on the topic. Is there anyone on this board who can give some direction to some information or research depts that may have more information? Jzk Wasalam |

| AA You might want to contat Islamic Relief (www.irw.org). They are collecting money for "children of war" at the moment, and may have some info. |

| Hello!! This is my first time posting here. Hope to make many new friends!! Re. your question: You may want to refer to work done by Dr. Charles Figley-he is an expert in the area of trauma and he has done soem specialized research re. children. I am a family therapist with speacialized studies in this area; my mother was also a victim of war. So, if you need additional input, please feel free to contact me at nunziatacat@yahoo.com. I would be glad to share my reflections with you. Just my own observation: effects of trauma continue for many generations and.....It's my own opinion that trauma effects the ability of a person to process information. Certain areas of the brain are more easily stimulated when trauma has occured that is, more cpgnitive distortions(and biological responses) occur in people who have been traumatized.
