Please spread this in all message boards and to your friends email lists. IF each Muslim writes and says they are creating anger in the Muslim world, insha'Allah Allah will plant the fear of consequences in them and they might reverse this hijab laws. If you have other important emails or other drafts add it to this please.

This is only in compliance to our religious duty to speak but we should not despair in case our plea landed on deaf ears. We simply have to trust Divine Wisdom in all  happening around us. Enemies of Islam can devise anything to destroy it but they can never stop and silence the WORDS of God in the Quran. Hijab is a direct commandment of Allah not just a fashion accessories like how they would want us to believe in equating it with cross as don by the Christians or any other religious accessories. Banning hijab is like banning sunday mass or other sacrament of the church like baptism.

Hadith on the issue:

“What is the highest form of striving in Allah's cause?” Muhammad(saw) replied: “Speaking the truth to a tyrant.”

'Anybody amongst you notices something evil, should correct it with his own hands, and if he is unable to do so, he should prohibit the same with his tongue; if he is unable even to do this, he should at least consider it as bad in his heart; this is the lowest degree of faith"

Here is what I got in email:

You know the anti-hijab move of the Govt. of France.  All believers in human rights and freedom of religion should campaign against it. I give below the address of the President of French and his e-mail for writing to him against the move of the French government. I also give below a draft as received from an Islamic Scholar of U.S. for your information.  You can use this draft if you like or have your own draft.

Draft of the letter to President of France

Dear Monsieur Chirac,

Re: French government’s plan to ban headscarf in public institutions.

We are deeply concerned about your government’s plan to ban all “conspicuous” religious signs in public places, a plan that seems to have a focused target - headscarves in public schools in France. We are further shocked and dismayed by your statements on 17th December 2003 in which you have spoken in favor of such a ban.

Clearly such a ban would compel many Muslim girls to have to make the extremely difficult choice between their education and their religion. Since ‘Hijab’ is not merely a symbol, it’s an act of worship in Islam, and Muslim women who practice it, do so solely for complying with the Commandment of God., having been denied this right, many of them would decide to leave school rather than act against their faith. Such a bill would thus lead to a violation of Muslim women’s right to education and the right to work, both guaranteed under many international human rights treaties, to which France is a signatory.

This kind of ban is contradictory to the very essence of pluralism, and even secularism, which France has steadfastly upheld for so long.  Such a discriminatory move, patronized by the French government, will alienate not only Muslims in France and elsewhere, but also all those who believe in equal and full rights for women and minorities. France, a respected and leading member of the world community, seems to be in a grip of hysterical Islamophobia. As Muslims must do their share to dispel the influence of any extremism, it is vitally important that visionary leaders of the world join hand in hand in curbing all forms of extremism.

Just as you have conscientiously spoken out in recent weeks against anti-Semitism, we urge you as a respected world leader to take a bold and visionary stand against the growing Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hatred in French society and prevent any legislation being enacted against minorities, especially the Muslim women.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,

There are some good points in this article that you can form your own letter from:
http://www.islamonline.net/fatwaapplication/english/display.asp?hFatwaID=108290

We must explain to the public and authorities that unlike wearing large crosses or other religious symbols, the case of hijab is different in at least three ways:

1. It is not a matter of religious symbolism, but it is a command of Allah to Muslim women, and it is part of their religious practice, not symbolism.

2. Muslim women who choose to observe that religious practice are not doing that to challenge the political system, but to practice their due religious freedom, which is by no means intended to hurt others or make any political statements.

3. The nature of Islam as a religion is such that the practice of modesty includes both private and public life. This is part of secularism, not to promote religion or oppress it for that matter.

Muslims (..) never accept that any non-Muslim define for them what their religion is or demand that they give up their religious belief and practice that does not infringe on others’ freedom.

When opponents of hijab refer to the principle of equality as one of the bases of the French Republic, they should also refer to freedom as another legitimate foundation of the French Republic.

I'm surprised that none of the pre-written letters I've read have said anything about the fact that what they're doing is forcing women/girls to wear less clothes, it's like they're making them strip >:( If that's not violating their rights I don't know what is.

I'm also surprised that most letters don't mention that another part of the anti-hijab law is that patients will be forbidden to request treatment from doctors of the same sex. By forbidding Muslim women the right to request that they only be examined by female doctors, some will forego medical treatment, possibly neglecting treatable medical conditions until they become dire and untreatable.

Many women, not just Muslims, prefer female doctors.  Their choice in the matter will now be subordinated to the interests of the secular state.

It also hasn't been made clear that they intend to ban hijab and niqab entirely on hospital premises.  I can see disaster coming...kind of reminds me of the old "wire hanger" abortion situation in the States.  People are going to do desperate things to treat themselves just to avoid taking hijab off, or sit and suffer.

I was required to give a bare-headed photo ID for my visa papers here.  Fair enough, but reportedly once they realise it's a sister that covers, they do all they can to flaunt the picture around, the staff gathers and laughs over it.  This hasn't happened to me personally but my source is trustworthy in my opinion.

A doctor here reassured the public in the news that he is prepared to respect all patients...I had to laugh at that, because many times in private doctors' offices we are treated very coldly just so we will feel uncomfortable enough to get out of their sight and find a new doctor.

I would have thought that all women regardless of faith would want the right to consult a doctor of their own choice. There have been many many cases in the media where male doctors have abused vulnerable female patients.

Why are these countries so afraid to allow women the right to cover.... are they scared that women may decide they're worth more than the price of beer that their bodies are used to sell???

Just thought of something else. OK so women will no longer have the right to choose who examines them.

In nightclubs here (UK) some places or actually I think possibly most popular clubs generally have bouncers at the door, male and female, they actually frisk clubbers prior to allowing entry, so does France have this?? and does that mean bouncers will be allowed to frisk whoever regardless of sex?? Will this also extend to airports??
If not why not?? Cos the doctor thing is completely ridsiculous it's not just down to religion, or modesty, but a lot of women just prefer to have embarrassing problems dealt with by women.... Ultimately I doubt in a state of emergency any hijaabi has refused a male doctor, I didn't infact at point of time I could have cared less.....

BTW I don't go clubbing, never have, never will, I just remembered the above scenario from a conversation in college with a non-muslim ::)

Then the fact that women will no longer be allowed to cover to the extent they wish, does this mean that in rape cases the female will no longer be asked about her attire?? Or does this not happen in France because it jolly well does here, and many victims are made to feel at fault... this whole law is absoloutely outrageous were the law lords (or French equivalent) drunk at the time???

The thing about French culture is that mixing of sexes is regarded as the right of a woman and it affirms her status as an "equal".  When you start indicating you want to separate sexes for *any* reason, it's taken as an insult to women's rights.  These lawmakers are supposedly supporting the "rights to equality" of our highschool Muslim girls.

I'm sure there are women who prefer to be treated by a woman doctor, but I guess it's assumed that they can choose their private practise doctor but ER treatment isn't a choice.

The hospitals are a big messy story anyway...they are severely understaffed, underfunded, and still reeling from the 10,000 deaths of the elderly over the summer's heatwave due to lack of resources.  So I guess the attitude is, take the doctor they want to assign you in the ER or keel over and die, they have too much to worry about.

I know nothing about night club frisking, but somehow I don't think it's a deciding issue.  Really, from the look of our club-goers here, the females are probably *hoping* to be frisked by a man.  Anyway that's not a commercial law issue, it's a Mafia issue  :D

In any case, don't forget that the laws are mainly concerning public schools, hospitals, and some commercial establishments (hijab is starting to be forbidden in banks and City Halls).  They aren't looking at it from an "anywhere sexes come in contact" point of view, they are looking at it from a "state institution" or "commercial space" point of view.

These laws are incredibly ridiculous, it's so obvious to everyone but the French.  This is why it can be seen as an insult, an Islamophobic attack, etc.  Really, the bad attitude against Muslims here started centuries ago, this issue isn't the start of it.  I've been here five years, been discriminated against from the get-go.

It seems obvious to me that even though they say "religious symbols", you bet that Christians or Jews wouldn't get in any big trouble for wearing theirs, you never see that much anyway.  This is aimed point-blank at Muslims.  Saying it's about "any religious symbols" is much like saying "Saddam has WMD somewhere in there, let's go get 'em".
