Brother i'm looking into the issue and there are reports that henna gathering is there in wedding ceremonies of arabs (with exceptions) but if ladies sing, which they do, then wouldn't it be a sin on their part if some non mehram listens to them. Isn't upto them ladies to make sure that they avoid the said? (question)

Sorry bro jaihoon, ladies in the other thread were really mad at me for criticizing mehndi there, so i hijacked your thread for a while. BTW you can't imagine the look at faces of my female relatives when i criticize mehndi infront of them (i once did it at office infront of power muslimas too :P )

God, i talk too much.......... Congrats bro for your new book.. oh and are you a member of "The Professional" board?.... if not then hurry up OR ELSE :)

nomi can't u keep your personal opinions to yourself?? cause no one is with you on this one... a henna is NOT a hindu thing, nor an arab thing nor anything else. if girls want to have it it's their personal business. if you don't like it it's your personal business...no one asked you to come or do it... but you keep wanting to make it haram/makruh and/or REWARDABLE to not have it or something... just post your so-called fatwa and leave the rest of the people alone cause we already asked our imam and we already have our fatwa thanx.

"You" already asked you imam? Thats good. Do you represent all the 1000 members of this board??? Do you represent 2,000+ lurkers of this board???

No dear lady, neither you are a representative of everyone living in your part of the world nor a representative of all members of this board so calm down inshaAllah.

Secondly, why am i asked to keep my personal opinion to myself, is it in the constitution??? or do you not like ppl going against what "you" as a person believe in? Besides if no one is with me on this and "keeping this issue of mehndi gathering aside" if the personal opinions of someone were to be "forced" to be kept with the one giving them coz no one else believe in them, then Islaam wouldn't have spread as in the very beginning Prophet [saw] was also considered to be (by non-Muslims) someone who came up with his own opinion and not the devine laws.

Another example is, when you talk about movies, you express your opinion while knowing that many dont watch them so who asked for your opinion there, did someone told you to keep it to yourself? No, then why are you harrassing me ???

[slm]

ps: i would like the readers to go through my first post in this thread again as i was really dumb-founded by our lady admin's post.

Elf Mabrook Bro Jaihoon!  :-X I am very happy for you and may Allah grant you great success with this book and any others you publish in the future!

Sis Jannah and Bro Nomi:

I don't mean to offend anyone or anything, but I like to hear other people's opinions and views and Bro Nomi is mashaAllah bringing up some good points. And isn't this what the board is for: talking about our views and sharing our personal opinions? To Sis Jannah  and anyone else it might be annoying but if you don't like it, don't read it and ignore it. Sorry, but I'm with Bro Nomi on this one.  And again I didn't mean to be rude. This is just MY opinion.

Wasalaam,
Doha  :-)

Aw Man....... I think I talk too much! I hope no one gets offended!

it is not about a person voicing their personal opinion about something, but about doing so repeatedly, to such an extent that another member cannot escape reading about it in many, many different threads.
It obvious that you are covering others for their harrassing comments. And these many threads that we are talking about here were only 3-4 max as opposed to tens of marriage threads. But since "you" sisters want to discuss marriage so you wont mind starting tens of threads and since you are being opposed for something that "you" like, so you dont like the topic to be discussed. So its all about what you like without being tolerant to other's view.
there's a point where people's opinions will differ, and when that point comes people really need to let things go and move on to other things.  it just gets pretty frustrating for the regulars, when it seems that every new thread on the board is about the same topic/s, or is somehow changed into a discussion on it.
The first thread in which mehndi was discussed wasn't started by me (infact i never "started" a thread on mehndi....) that thread was started by sis Shahida and when some sisters discussed mehndi i came up with view of many other ppl who unluckily are not members of this board and btw are all around the world. Then there was another thread which again wasn't started by me and mehndi was mentioned in it and since "many new comers keep joining the board" and there exists a "different view" on the topic so its good in all manners and by all books to convey this "different view" to them.

And then sis 7 started this marriage thread after a month or so, which is all good since inshaAllah if life will permit i too will get married some day, and sisters came up with their likings about mehndi. Again it wasn't me who mentioned mehndi but you clearly mentioned that you are frustrated by me mentioning it again and again but others mentioning it doesn't frustrate you (i wonder why!!). Now in a months time there are "more" ppl who have joined the board and many more lurkers keep stumbling at it so again its good in all manners and by all books to convey this "different view" to them. But unfortunately it again had to be me to voice this coz (probly fortunately) others who arn't for mehndi arn't members here.

Your sister mentioned that "no one is with me on this so i better hush" which resulted in unmasking a sister who agreed to me.

Moral till now is: I never brought up the topic of mehndi but it was some particular sisters who did, my crime is that i voice my view (whenever some particular sister bring up the topic) so that "new members" and "new lurkers" get to read other opinion. But probly we think that whatever is said "is targetted at us", while its not.
perhaps it is my incredibly emotional nature as a woman, as has been mentioned in numerous threads thus far, but to be quite honest I've found it extremely frustrating and am going to take some time off from the board because of it.
It was you who mentioned ppl getting emotional in your posts at akhwats which you modified and since you took "my answer as a question" and called it "nonsense" so i had to clarify that you are getting emotional coz thats not what i meant to which you dint reply.

Second time the word emotional was mentioned in Akhwans but for some reason you thought that i'm referring to you in particular. Lets say that on a scale from 1-10 i'm 6 when it comes to being broadminded and lets assume you are 8, now there is room for all of us being more broadminded. The reason i'm saying this is that we should not think of ourselves as important that all posts on the board are targetted at us or something but rather these posts should be considered for around 4000 ppl who visit us on and off.

Lastly, 95+% of our practices are same and a particular group on the board keeps picking on me for around 4-% of our difference, while we are tooo welcoming for the SEEKERS (which is all ALL good). But this just reminds me of the incidence when some non-Muslims came to meet our Prophet [saw] and He [saw] asked the Sahaba to move back and back to make room for the SEEKERS to an extent that Sahaba got to sit on or probly too near the shoes. After which Allah [swt] revealed verses telling the Prophet [saw] give more importance to those who are already in deen (dont get me wrong, i 2 welcome ALL SEEKERS with open arms... i'm all for it.. but i hope you got the point). And i wish there were more on here who shared my views in 4-% of the matters atleast that way i wouldn't be the only one who gets picked on by the particular group that i mentioned.

[slm]

ps: This is madinat-alMuslimeen and not madinat-al (like minded) Muslimeen. And new ppl join each day mashaAllah for learning different views on islaam and growing in deen. I may be wrong but i dont harrass ppl for voicing (they start it) 4-% of the things that i dont agree with.

pps: "jaihoon yaar....... ma'zerat"

lets not take the joy of brother jaihoon's new book. alhamdullah that everyone has a mind to think with and we will always have different opionions that we gather from different schools who give different fatwas. I also asked about this a well know scholar. i think everyone should go with what they believe as long as they can support it with hadith and sunna.

Please do not argue about such pity things. let us all pray for our Muslim brothers and sisters who are  dieing all over the world for no reason.  a piece of bread is all they have to live on for the day, or maybe even the week. no clean water, seeing their relatives and loved ones killed, and even worse disfigured (yes, i say this is worse than death because they do not have the necessary medical instruments needed to help them, and so they end up in extreme pain)....

take a deep breath, and lets stop any further talk about henna/mehndi parties. w'salaam.

The essence of this thread seems to be 'too much talk' (smile)… As such I am tempted to rattle on & on ...
:-[ ok maybe not about Henna/Mehndi, but about the release of your second book.. Alhamdu lillah !!

Mabrook Brother … Masha’ Allah

One thing that did catch my eye is the means of distribution for this second publishing: It’s exciting to think this may mean a potential to reach yet a larger population that may benefit & enjoy … Insha’ Allah.

We are very fortunate to be able to share with you… Jazak Allahu Khairan.

May Allah (swt) himself continue to support your efforts & sincerity… Ameen.

(ps~ since it was stated I thought to add; I agree with our Sister & believe we are all looking forward to the day of that other ‘happy announcement’ ... As Allah(swt) allows ...  through his infinite wisdom & mercy ... Ameen )
