If someone is embroidering something on a baby blanket would the following be appropriate? What would you recommend? Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh Meaning: "Peace and the Mercy and Blessings of God be upon you" Or would you recommend something else? The shahadah? (I think I spelled that right) |

[slm] I don't know about baby blanket embroidery, but I think you mean the shahada, or testimony of Islamic faith. |

[slm] I Recommend "MASHA ALLAH" This is the expression we have to say when ever we see a beautiful thing .so that blanket and the baby inside since they are very pretty . this exprssion is the right one I think . if we translate it MASHALLAH actually means WHAT ALLAH WANTS .and yes since any thing holds the look and the style ALLAH wanted it to be .But it is an admiration expression like to say woww what a pretty thing but relating this beauty to ALLAH'S will ;-) |

[slm] Ma sha Allah is a nice idea too. However, IF keeping the blanket clean at all times is an issue, you might consider something that doesn't include the Divine name. I don't know what would be appropriate, but thought that worth mentioning, and Allah knows best. bro. octagon |

If it is for a non Muslim family, something short and sweet, with a reflection of religion is good. many times haunches are bunched with the meer mention of religion. Everynight, when I kiss my sleeping child, I thank Allah swt and think: "A Gift from God" Which may be a nice sentiment for the blanket. If you use the word God, you do not have to worry about the soil factor...as much. |

I was going to write the same thing...maybe a nice reflection but don't put God or Allah or equivalant in languages. |

Assalamo elikuim "Everynight, when I kiss my sleeping child, I thank Allah SubHana Wa Ta`ala and think: "A Gift from God" " Subahan Allah , I also say this to my kids. When ever I ask them what two dearest gifts Allah swt have blessed me with, my younger one say "me and Osman" :) Wasalam tq |
