I enjoyed reading the one's you put up. They are very interesting "slices of urban muslim life"... I also liked  your characters and their strengths and foibles.. very realistic... Keep writing inshaAllah!!! :)

MashaAllah thats great writing, easy and down to earth :) I'll admit it took me a while to get into the story, but after the first few paragraphs I was hooked.  InshaAllah you wont keep us in suspense too long about what happened to Durrah ;)

Ahlan wa sahlan, nida. Welcome to Madinat al Muslimeen! Shukran for checking out my story! I really appreciate the feedback and positive encouragement. My usual posting days are Fridays... but I kind of got off track with the Eid. Inshallah, next friday.

Probably a good time to recap for those who need it. Inshallah, These Last Days, will be coming to end this month!! :o

coming to an end??  :'(  I just read the whole thing today and mashallah it's very good! I love reading about the lives of other muslims and how they handle situations in their life. Jameelah is a good role model, i like that she's working on her temper and always remembers to say bismillah. i think it's really cool how islam is really integrated into the women's lives- it's not compartmentalized, like something that really comes when they go to the masjid or halaqa for example. Something I know I need to work on.

i can't wait for the next installment :)

[slm] a very enjoyable story, easy and captivating read, except that i have now got into the habit of just glancing through. In my younger days, i would not have stopped until I had read upto the last in one go. But I will insha`Allah take a print and read it slowly, enjoying it.

A little confusion though, I think. Somewhere the names Khadija and Jameelah seem to be mixed up. But this could perhaps be in my mind only due to only glancing through. Can you check this bit, please?

These last days ...con't
***********
Aaliyya, Durrah, Hannah and I broke fast together ..............

"Allahu Akbar! Come on over here then, Jameelah, and see if it's high enough. But, if the hem needs to be taken out, that's on you. I have other things to do this morning."

Jameelah got up off my leather couch and walked to the back of the living room to the computer desk where I was working at and picked up her husband's thoube and inspected it by putting it up against her.

"Oh, it looks fine, Alhamdulilah. You do really great work Jameelah. You need to start charging people, girl!" Jameelah said matter of factly. Shaking my head, I laughed to myself as she walked back to the couch and put Walid in her lap to continue reading to him. Khadijah was just herself and was never going to be other than that. And even though, I at times wished she was different, today, Alhamdulilah, I was glad that she was who she was, my  younger sister.
********
........[/quote]

also: the title of your thread says "These last nights ....", while within the post itself you say "These last days ...con't"

perhaps this way both days and nights are covered ? :)

i just noticed that!
you are right brother timbuktu. the word "jameelah" doesn't really make sense if you read the first couple lines. i think its actually "khadija" instead of "jameelah".
still an awesome story! []

Shukran, brother timbuktu! Editors are essential, inshallah as soon as I get a bestseller, I hope to be able to afford one  ;)!

Alhamdulilah, the typos have been fixed! Jazak'Allahu Khair! Also, as for the name, These Last Nights, I changed it during the course of the story to These Last Days, it just sounded better to me.

[slm] we editors have a knack of only reading mistakes  ;)

OK,

Reply 7: "Covered Pearls's B.A.T security will be in full effect by Thuhr time,"

[s]i guess you meant Thurs, not Thuhr, unless it is an american way to shorten Thursday.[/s]

sorry, my mistake

Reply 14: "I know, I know you told me not to... I'm sorry, Jameelah. You're not made at me, are you?" She said sounding sincere walking over to where I was and sitting in another folding chair.

should be "mad at me", not "made at me"

also, same post:

'What nerve you have'! At this point, I had a much nerve actually.

"a much nerve", doesn't sound right to me.

Reply 15, "Chessy" shold be "Cheesy"

that's for now, but these are small typos. Yours is a "real"ly awesome story.

Again, I am sorry - asifa. I've really been busy, Mashallah. But Alhamdulilah, I have finished the story. Thank you all - Jazakum Allahoo Khairan for reading this story and encouraging me, Alhamdulilah.

Inshallah, I hope to have this story and the follow up to it published as an e-book this summer, bee'ithneelah. Inshallah, I hope you all will continue to support Islamic fiction and pass the word around.

But don't worry, inshallah, I would like to do start another story in this forum probably in another couple of weeks.

Now.. on to the ending. The ending is a bit longer than I expected so I will have to break it up into parts. Insha'Allah, I will post 2 parts today and the rest on Jumuah.
