| [slm] I hope all of you are doing well. I'm not sure if this should go here or the Naseeha corner, but I chose Akhwat since it was a women only gathering. :) I am part of an organization called AYWA.....American Yemeni Women's Association. Last year we had a dinner and fashion show showcasing clothing from different cultures and then some raffles and other celebrations. This year we want to do this again, but we want to make it different. Alhamdulliah the fashion show worked out great and we want to do it again this year, but we want to make it different. We decided on making it International with different people modeling International clothing (Indian, Oriental, etc) and then doing a dance. I am going to ask my school's Diversity Dance and Diversity Club if they want to participate and we are going to talk to some local clothing shops to donate dresses and costumes. The thing is we want to top last year's gathering and make it memorable inshaAllah. So my question for you is..... what kind of things would be interesting to have at a banquet/dinner like this. Should we have skits or auctions? What things have you seen at these types of parties that you enjoyed? Any suggestions would be very helpful. The dinner will be February 6 inshaAllah but we need the month of January to plan, decorate, and do rehearsals. So Please answer ASAP! | asalaam doha, few suggestons: 1. door prizes...give each person a ticket as they enter, and place the other half in a bowl then during the fashion show (maybe as a break in the middle) pull out a couple of numbers and give away prizes. 2. funny skits are always fun to have. make sure the people practice alot before hand otherwise they will freeze up on stage. 3. maybe have the clothes that are in the fashion show for sale after the show and proceeds can go to some kind of charity. 4. have people read poetry (really nice if its poetry they wrote themselves), sing (Islamic songs ofcourse with no music out of respect for those who do not listen to musical instruments). if i think of anything else i will let you know. w'salam. |
