A lady from whom my mother used to get her dresses stitched from had cancer. Although she got treated from a good hospital (Imran Khan's) but now she is living without her excretory system!!! They attached tubes to her sides and now she excretes in those bags!

Lets thank Allah for our excretory system!

A friend's father had lungs problem along with stones in his kidney. He got treated well but the doctors dint operate him to get those stones out, rather it was done through medicine.

Couple of small stones got out during urination *shivers*!!! with extreme pain and bleeding in the process.

Lets thank Allah for our respiratory and filteration system!

um... It might not fit here but my uncle and auntie told us that at times in villages women deliver child in fields even (when they are working there in this condition), and they specifically mentioned a case where one lady did it all by herself when working in fields! And this is not considered a rarity in villages!!!

I wonder from where do they get this much power and sabr.
Allahu Akbar!

um...not sure if this is a spin-off on a thread in the Akhwat section, but bro, this situation is surely a case of bad timing and certainly not a testimony to the superior power and sabr of women in the village.

If I'm not mistaken there's a high child and female mortality rate in villages because women and children often die during unattended childbirth.

Spin-off? not exactly respected sis. If you wanna call that third post anything then take it as my salutation/admiration of all you muslimahs out there. Undoubtably paradise in under your feet!

OK, if you ever come to Lahore and visit the railway station then there are chances that you'll catch this guy who rides a bicycle (two wheels) but has NO arms!! He does it by tieing a rope to his shoulders and the handle of bicycle, amazing!!!

There is another guy in my neighbourhood who lost his hands while working in some press. Its been more than 10 years that hes running his own business (a store) and rides his bicycle by using his "half palms"!! Allahu Akbar.

Lets thank Allah for our hands and arms and "Never Say Die".... ever!!

In my neighbourhood, there is a boy not much older than my youngest son.  He is in a wheel chair lying down, totally deformed, his arms bent at different angles, his legs same.  The only things which are normal are his head and the section between his neck and tummy.  He lays out there all day, watching other kids play from his akward position.  Subhanallah!!!

Whenever I see this boy, I want to cry.  He is not a Muslims boy, but he is a just a kid like my son.  And I thank Allah tremendously for giving me healthy kids.  Allahu Akbar.  We should be thankful for all that we have.

And I agree with brother Nomi.  Even now in the twenty first century we still have women who give birth in difficult cirmcumstances.  No access to a medical facility and sometimes with the help of traditional birth attendants.  It is not an easy feat.  Those of us who have had children in hospital know how difficult it is, especially normal delivery not c-section.  You can imagine a woman without such luxury.  For it is luxury to have a baby in hospital.  Yes, Nomi, it is a tribute to women for they undergo the most difficult phases in their life time.  A mother is not a joke.

Should Allah create us all the same like robots? We come from different families, places, circumstances. Each of us have tests and trials to our limits. We have tests in our circumstances, people around us, families, problems, health, every area you can think of. Perhaps if this boy is patient with his circumstances, Allah would give him Jannah. And perhaps all that see him are tested and reminded to be thankful for everything they have problems and all.

[slm] there is a migratory tribe or clan called "udd" which is mainly employed in the construction industry as masons, laborers, etc. and whose women do a lot of menial labor like carrying bricks etc. It is not unknown for one to take a break during work to go and give birth, & be back to work (i dont remeber when, but probably within three days)

i don't think you'd be able to convince an atheist or non-believer on this topic. it doesn't make sense to them because they don't believe in God or a purpose to our lives. and usually they will use examples like this as an excuse not to believe in God.

a beautiful young girl (maybe about twenty) was in a serious car accident.  She was hit by a drunk driver, and barely escaped the accident with her life.  Now her face is deformed, she doesn't have a nose, her ear is just a hole, she lost an arm,...the list goes on.  Some of my friends saw her on TV and said they would rather have died than to have to live out the rest of their life in that state - they said there was no purpose to her life anymore.

I was surprised to hear that.  There is more to life than physical appearance; this girl is a non-muslim - what if she were to become a muslim?  Then her life now would be better than her life when she was "beautiful."  Allah Ta'ala has given us this life and everything in it as a test.  Our purpose in life is not to *have* anything, but to *be* believers.

May Allah ta'ala Make us true believers, and Disconnect our hearts from the attachment of this dunya.

My dear Brothers and Sisters,

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.

I know a young girl who is wheelchair dependant, diaper dependant, can't speak in a way that outsiders would understand her, has dislocated joints because her tone is so intense the doctors can't treat them and her bowels have literally stopped working.

But you know what? She is the most beautiful girl in the world (in my eyes). She has a heart of gold and she's so kind, always worrying about others...apologizing when she *feels* she did something wrong and you will always see a smile on her face.

I used to wonder why Allah (swt) made her suffer in such a way. She suffers so much, yet she brings so much joy to those who are around her.

I cry when she hugs me and kisses me and tells me that she loves me.

This child is my daughter, and I am blessed immensely that Allah ta'ala has honored me by allowing me to be her Mother.

[slm] Dear Sister Serena,

From one human being to another, from a sister to a sister but above all, from one mother to another mother, may Allah(SWT) reward you for your acceptance of His will and your patience for caring for your child in such condition.  May Allah continue to bless you for the love you have for her and May Allah lessen her trials and tribulations in a way that makes her happy and bring more peace to your heart, AMEEN.  For you have already said ALAHMDU LILLAH in the most painful and appropriate way to ALLAH.

Both of you will be in my Duas and thoughts.

With much love,

Halima

My mother tells me that, that lady's condition made her cry infront of her but Allah gave that lady so much patience that she didn't use to shed a single tear!! May be not infront of others, Allahu Alim.

May Allah forgive her sins and bless her with firdous-a-ala, ameen.
