If anybody can share some insights on what it's like to live and study in Kent, Ohio that would be very much appreciated. Jazakum Allahu khairan.

Alhamdullilah, I go to a university in cleveland and we are working on a networking MSA sorta thing!!! soooo we have a lot of info on the MSA at Kent state university. Insha'Allah i can message you some info.. There are 2 masajids in kent, one closer to the campus.. it's a small masjid and then there is one bigger one about 25 mins away from the campus! But Kent is a pretty good university! and not too far from cleveland, which has a pretty active Muslim community!!!

Kent State is mashallah such a cool place! I go to school nearby, and my friends and I would often study at their student center which is really very nice! in the basement, they have these really comfy couches, tables and chairs, and computers w/ internet and a coffee place and some other stuff. The campus is pretty big and it's really beautiful in the spring w/ all the green trees and everything. The town is fun too and they have a chiptole :P

Their MSA is very active mashallah and I was able to go to a lecture they had about relief work in Palestine, and mashallah, there were SO many non muslims there! It seems like Kent state is one of those universities where so many of the students at least have an opinion about what's going on in the world and care to educate themselves.

Are you planning on going to school there?

Jazaki Allah khairan for your informative reply! I agree that the Kent campus is beautiful and big and pretty comfortable, ma sha Allah.

I got into Kent and can transfer there for Spring 2004 insh Allah, but I have to get a job nearby to make it happen insh Allah. That's what I'm working on now; otherwise, I'll probably end up back at Queens College in New York.

I was wondering if there are any Islamic schools or any other institutions in Ohio within commuting distance of Kent where a brother can get a job. Also, what is a chiptole?

Alhamdolillah, I was at Kent recently and the place does have a lot of facilities; and, if anybody was wondering like me what a chiptole is, apparently, it's a misspelling of CHIPOTLE which is a Mexican restaurant. They have one near the Kent campus, and a beautiful Islamic Center on Steels Corner in nearby Akron, ma sha Allah. Jazakum Allah khair.

Alhamdolillah, the info was very helpful. Kent is a much nicer environment for studying than Queens College.

Jazaki Allahu khairan.
