The Mule, the Monkey & The Man

God created the mule, and told him, "You are mule. You will work constantly from dusk to dawn, carrying heavy loads on your back. You will eat grass and lack intelligence. You will live for 50 years." The mule answered, "To live like this for 50 years is too much. Please, give me no more than 20." And it was so. Then God created the dog, and told him, "You are dog. You will hold vigilance over the dwellings of Man, to whom you will be his greatest companion. You will eat his table scraps and live for 25 years." The dog responded, "Lord, to live 25 years as a dog like that is too much. Please, no more than 10 years." And it was so. God then created the monkey, and told him, "You are monkey. You shall swing from tree to tree, acting like an idiot. You will be funny, and you shall live for 20 years."  The monkey responded, "Lord, to live 20 years as the clown of the world is too much. Please, Lord, give me no than 10 years." And it was so. Finally, God created Man and told him, "You are Man, the only rational being that walks the earth. You will use your intelligence to have mastery over the creatures of the world. You will dominate the earth and live for 20 years." The man responded, "Lord, to be Man for only 20 years is too little. Please, Lord; give me the 20 years the mule refused, the 15 years the dog refused, and the 10 years the monkey rejected." And so God made Man to live 20 years as a man, then marry and live 20 years like a mule working and carrying heavy loads on his back. Then, he is to have children and live 15 years as a dog, guarding his house and eating the leftovers after they empty the pantry; then, in his old age, to live 10 years as a monkey, acting like an idiot to amuse his grandchildren. And it is so ...

I know sister Halima that you did not write this, but I'm wondering if this kind of joking is allowed, since it states that Allah said something that He did not?  Is it not inventing a lie about Allah?

I believe it is a joke that indicates a lesson not reality, so you can take it with a grain of salt.

It is quite amazing that a Muslim can no longer try to correct something another has done that is not correct in Islam.  How can saying Allah said something that we have no knowledge of be taken with a grain of salt?  The Prophet,  [saw] joked and never lied.
I see that the only thing that is accepted on this board is the opinion of the administrator, and if we try to correct something that doesn't agree with her opinion we are shot down.
I no longer wish to be a member of this board and request you withdraw my membership.
Ordering good and forbidding evil is part of our religion.

One of the great sins of the jews and christians was attributing to Allah what He did not tell them.  If there is a lesson to be derived here then I am missing it.  I see it only as a joke with words being attributed to Allah that He did not Say.  We should be very careful of this.  As muslims wee know that we only have to turn to the Qur'an and ahadith qudsi to find out what Allah Says.
These types of jokes with God playing a role in them are rampant through the Christian community.  Even before converting, it made my uneasy and nervous to here people use God in such a trivial joking manner.
Let us only speak of Allah in a manner the suits His Majesty as our belief in Tawheed states.

[slm] :)

I am realizing now that we really miss Abu_Hamza and BroKhalid here.  As i find them the bestest of mods with gr8 gr8 wisdom and selection of words. There are few things that i wanted to suggest in a few threads but since people have lost their cool in this bad patch so i'll refrain.

sis Taalibaltul_ilm, you are one of the sisters that i really admire along with sis Shahida, sis Nur-al-night, sis sofia, sis umm-wafi, sis Nisa and sis 7 who are indeed the cream of this board. So i request you to stay and forgive our words.

With much respect
Your brother.

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah,

subhan'Allah!  since when is a difference of opinion a reason to leave the board?  if that were the case, I don't think there would be many of us here :)

sr. talibaatul ilm, simply because you disagree with jannah does not mean your opinion is not welcomed, or even agreed with by others.  respectfully, jannah was just posting her opinion, just as you are free to post your opinion.

take care and take it easy,

wasalaamu alaykum

The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah upon him said: “The ability to act in a calm and composed manner is [a blessing] from Allah, whereas acting in haste is following Satan.”  At-Tirmithi.
It doesn’t take a scholar to realize that I shouldn’t have written in anger when I got upset at sister Jannah’s post.  Please forgive me sister Jannah for my outburst and for the hard words I had for you.  I was upset at many things I was seeing on the board, but that is no excuse for my bad manners and letting my anger take control of my finger tips when typing.
I’m not sure whether I will actively participate or not on the board, but cannot close the door being in the wrong for my outburst.
We as Muslims have a duty to change a wrong when we see it.  We also have the duty to encourage good. I am quite sure that sister Jannah knows this and understands this.  I’m not sure this board is going to allow this, so will wait and see.
May Allah reward you brother Nomi for your kind words;  keep on learning and striving in religion, insha’ Allah you will be successful in both worlds..  Sister Se7en, jazaki Allahu khairan for pointing that out.  I was assuming she was speaking as the administrator and not just giving an opinion.

I would love to learn more from Brother Abu Khaled and pray that he will contribute again to this board.  His words made me feel my guilt and I was properly ashamed of myself, even though he may not have even read this thread.
I ask all of you to forgive me if I have wronged you or been rude in anyway.
