| assalaamu-alaikum warahmatulaahi wabarakaatuhu This topic is specifically for the brothers as its to do with something sisters are simply unable to do, which is to throw a punch...... properly ;) So brothers, my question to those who engage in forms of combat training, how many punches can you throw in 10 seconds? I have heard people say 74 is the maximum possible. Anyone here better this? walaikumasalaam mujaahid4ever |

| [slm] I think you need to be more specific. How do you mean throw a punch ??? Is it jabs, hooks, right crosses or uppercuts. Could it be combo? Also what type of combat training are you talking about? martial arts or boxing. Boy you sure left a lot of room for inquiries. :) I wonder how many Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson could throw. As for the question of boxing, is it don with gloves or without? Weight also could be a factor. ::) Boy am I confused :P P.S I have'nt tried it yet. I don't think I wanna, it might lower my confidence :P ::) [slm] ;-) |

Well initialy i did intend it in the boxing sense, however now you've bought up other forms of fighting i wonder which form is the fastest! I am referring to straight punches only! I think weight will definastely have an impact, and as we are measuring speed, the smaller guy will be at an advantage. However if we were to measure power, the bigger guy would be the one with the advantage. So, who is faster, Bruce Lee, Or Sugar Ray Leonard? m4e |

I have heard people say 74 is the maximum possible. [/quote] Hmm I used to be good a number of months back but trainings gone downhill, I could do 30-40 on a good day. But then all of em were on target and straight punches. If anyone is fast it had to be Master Bruce, the guy was something like ten years ahead of martial arts during his time. If you've read any books on him you'll see the techniques that he went through, awesome man. Get tha Tao of Bruce Lee if you can an amazing book. I'll post others in time. And why throw a punch at a critter when you can use a gun to keep him down? I don't know this Azizah woman must be working toooo hard in the snow. It reminds me why do you have rescue dogs with you? I mean are you that poor in driving in winter that you need rescue dogs to take you home on a sledge?. I don't know sis maybe you need to talk to Kathy about this. I fight a woman sometimes but in 10 seconds i only get to take a single first shot followed by three quick ones from her and yes you are right, they do look daggers at you. [/quote] Rescue dogs.......some are rescue for search and rescue when a child or altzhiemers patient goes off and gets lost and some of my dogs are rescued dogs as in I rescued them from a bad fate. I have both, don't they have search and rescue teams in the UK? Silly Bro :-/ Ok I am outta this thread, I was just in an ornery mood and wanted to cause a little trouble ;D As for the speeding 4 legged critter, it was a time I went into a pasture to check on a lamb and a stupid ram came at me and I whopped him good. I've ahso punched a couple horses a while back for getting out of control. Hubby is here in the rom and remembers before we were married a mare who nearly kicked me in the head, she was trying to get through a gate and kicked up at me and I was so ticked off I knocked the **** out of her (as my hubby puts it) To all the animal lovers a punch to a 1,000 lb horse is a mere love tap to them. Ok Bro's I'm out of here but don't say a sis can't knock you out :P Oh and BroHanif, you throw the dogs in the truck and put the sled on the roof and drive the dogs to the sledding area ::) |

| [slm] I know this is only for bros but........ I did 30. And yes, I can throw a punch! I have two big bros who I wrestle with all the time. They always wanted a little brother, but they got stuck with me. They still try to teach me techniques and different punches. I used to help one of them train when he wanted to be a boxer. We have all that equipment in my garage. The speed bag, punching bag, the weights, the thing that you pull down and it has weights on the bottom. I don't know what it's called! ??? I can take down my 185 lb bro and he's 21 and I'm 14!!!!! It takes a while, but I have learned that a karate chop on the back of the neck and the back of the knees weakens him and then a headlock will get a hold of him. Then I just push him down and sit on him and mess up his hair. :) I told him "The student has now become the teacher!" I can pin my 16 year old sis. I have been taught well by my bros and I can certainly throw a punch! And trust me, my punches hurt!!!!!! :P I'm a tough chick! ;D Sorry, I just had to post. Wasalaam, Doha :-) |
