[slm] my dear sisters!!!

I am finally back from Europe, alhamdulillah, had an amazing time there!  Missed the board so much, what did I miss? I need to make some serious time to catch up on everything:)

One q for today: I know someone asked this question before (was it Eleanor?) ...anyway, just wanted to know how husband and wife pray when they pray together...where does she stand? who says Iqama? must she say Ameen loudly?

I always thought I knew the answers, but a recent experience with a dear sister has caused some doubt...inshaAllah, khair.

JazakumAllahu khairun, I am glad to be back:)
Salam
Shahida :-)

as-salaamu alaikum

If it is only a husband and wife praying, then the woman should pray behind the man. This is because in the days of the Prophet alaihis-salaatu was-salaam, the men would line up behind him, and then the kids and then the women.

If i remember, i'll check up the reference to this at home, insha'Allah.

Na'am, this is correct. The place for the woman is behind her husband. I am not sure about the who should call the iqaamah...however, i think that it would probably be the man.

yep it was me. I think I asked it in the Naseeha Corner. Anyways I found some stuff on Islam Q&A and basically answered it myself.

The wife stands behind the man. We don't have much space so I am kind of to one side and behind. My head however is in Sajdah just about where his feet are or a little behind.
He says the Iqaama. And you can say Ameen but not too loudly. But you don't have to. Reason being, women say Ameen if they are praying with Mahrams but if they are not with Mahrams then under their breath.

Hope this helps Insha Allah.
