Secular Education First?

-...I wonder, why soooo much emphasis placed on secular education.  I mentioned to a couple of my friends that I didn't really want to do my masters because I want to spend that time *really* learning about my deen.  But everyone seems to look down on that.  Why is it that we dont make sure our kids (or ourselves) become hafizes before we move on to secular education.  Everyone will say that islamic education is this most important, but no one really acts on it.

so what do you think?

I think you're absolutely right, ukhtee! Our values are messed up within this ummah. Deen should be first and most important! Especially now. Our shabab are entwined fully in the Matrix known as the dunya and their main goals are usually very superficial. Weath and fame!

If you have the opportunity to go study deen or to marry (if your not married) then I you do it. Inshallah, purify your niyyat, make dua and Allah will make it easy for you!
