Should I or shouldn't I post and ask my question when the mood on the board is like waves pounding on the rocks (or me chopping the chicken on the chopping board) . I felt like a circus clown distracting people from the current issues being discussed and debated in this bebzi stand.  Or, should I have posted in the Kabob?

In the past, I have posted my questions here on travellings and Alhamdulillah received good answers and pointers from the members here. So, am trying my luck here again . (No,  sista J (short for Jannah ;) ) I am not turning your board into lonelyplanet.com  ;D

But, have any of you been to / live/  have relatives / experience travelling as a Muslim in Taiwan ?

Me brutha had to go to Taiwan like 4 times already as part of his National Service duties.

Some of his observations :

1) Food

SUSAH !! Mann...finding really halal food there is difficult so be prepared to stock up on instant noodles, instant rice what-have-yous till you are swimming in MSG fantasy  :-/ He said you should be safe if u stick to fish burgers at McD or umm..vegetarian food sold by Buddhists (cos they are wayy strict vegetarians).  Check out where the Buddhist monks and nuns eat, you should be safe there. Buy BOTTLED mineral water. Period.

2) Cleanliness
Umm...definitely not Singapore-style  ;) Just go to the toilets at your hotel and/or toilets at other hotels.  No guarantee if u go to the toilets at uhh..other places.

3) Shopping
Lots of touts, selling from fake Guccis to snake fangs necklaces  ::) Do not get taken in.  Haggling is a must  BUT please buy if they agree to your prices or else (think the Cina at Petaling Street).

4) Safety
Do NOT wander alone.

Ok..yabedee yabeedee yabedee..thats all folks !

Wassalam

Hey thanks kakak!I hope that others travelling to that part of the world would find this tip beneficial.

I didnt know that Spore send those in duty to Taiwan. Is this apart of partnership training?

I always  thought that Taiwan and specifically Taipei is somewhat similar to S'pore. If I can survive the public toilets here, I am sure I can there.
