I saw grief drinking a cup of sorrow and called out, "It tastes
sweet, does it not?" "You've caught me," grief answered, "and
you've ruined my business, how can I sell sorrow when you know it's a
blessing?"

This truth is not known too all
That, When there is no pain at all
The ball of joy in life will fail to roll

O Reader!
Until you know your pain
The joy in life you cannot gain.

Like a barren shell deserted on a beach
In this dark hour I am longing
For the Sun's rays to hatch

When you are gone
I sat quietly on this bench
And my thirst for an answer I silently tried to quench-

'All that has come
will finally be gone.
But in my heart is a question-

A Sun that is gone
Would it not return
On tomorrow's morn?

Let not the sorry plight of the garden upset the gardener;
Soon buds will sprout on the branches and like stars glitter.
Weeds and brambles will be swept out of the garden with a broom;
And where martyrs blood was shed red roses shall bloom.
Look, how russet hues have tinged the eastern skies!
The horizon heralds the birth of a new sun about to rise.

Cry, cry, cry...
***********

'Cry, cry and cry
Ah! your Lord is indeed seeing you cry!'

So many roses are coming in praise,
A single thorn is making my pain rise.

Everywhere around is the sound of fame,
From a silent corner is daunt of shame

What is there in my power?
That I can change-
The color of this aversive flower.

Everywhere in the garden,
Is the talk of this Nightingale.
But this Rose still does contain,
Me among the dwellers of hell.

My world is full of joy
Yet I don't know why I cry
No matter what I try
My eyes are not getting dry.

My heart was shattered
In pieces was it scattered
When with the Shining Sword
Was I badly battered.

What is the worth of all the success I have had
When in those Fearful Eyes I am seen like a devil bad.

For gold and riches,
Have I no appeal.
Yes, my love for those Him-Loving Eyes-
Ah! This I wish not to conceal.

For hours and hours
I was in tears...
Looking for one among my folks
A caring heart that my sorrow hears.

A voice then came from my ego-mending mentor
Much relief did it for me render-

'Cry, cry Jaihoon
Cry, cry my little one...

Your Lord is indeed seeing you cry!
He is not deaf or blind
Towards every slave
Is He unbelievably kind.

With the warmth of every tear
That like blood flows is He familiar

'Cry, cry and cry
And let your eyes be never dry.

First melt heart your own
With the fruits of what I've sown
The remedy for rest
From Him will be shown.

The body a tree,
God a wind.
When God moves me like this,
like this,
Angels bump heads with each other
Gathering beneath my cheeks,
Holding their wine barrels
To catch the brilliant tear,
Pearl,
Rain.

The angels belittled me:
'Oh a man he is !'
************************
http://jaihoon.com/egoptics/man.htm

The Mercy of Most Merciful crowned him
He asked for a few pieces of gold,
A handful of wealth was blessed upon him.

Always failing in His duty
Oh. A man he is!
Never losing hope in His Mercy
Oh. A man he is!

He boasted of the Lord's mercy on him,
Many were the favors given to him.
He moved his limbs to the rhythm of Lord,
His face shone in glorifying His Lord.

Everyone wondered what had happened to him
None realized what had come upon him.
He conversed with Lord in the late hours
Subhanallah! Al hamdu lillah!
His prayers were diverse!

Always failing in His duty
Oh. A man he is!
Never losing hope in His Mercy
Oh. A man he is!

But alas! His crown is no more,
His pride is no more,
His joyful tears are no more.

He has become a shame for his own conscience
He has masked his pain with silence
He began to drown without hope
None helped him with a rope!

Always failing in His duty
Oh. A man he is!

We worship the Lord day and night,
We're made from the purest of light
Was it for his race that we prostrated?
For the numerous sins they committed?

Always failing in His duty
Oh. A man he is!
Never losing hope in His Mercy
Oh. A man he is!

He continues to place his face on the ground,
He maintains that Lord's gift will again descend.
We, the creatures of light, are not devoid of understanding
But with us is not the piece of flesh inspiring!

The piece of flesh is his SECRET,
Everything we have but his HEART.
The love of Lord's Beloved
is his confidence
Upon the Beloved,
he sends blessings even in silence

The heavens and stars saw him dancing him with joy,
But only the Lord remained to see him cry!

Always failing in His duty
Oh. A man he is!
Never losing hope in His Mercy
Oh. A man he is!

This poem was inspired by an essay of Allama Iqbal entitled "The Human Ego- His freedom and immortality".

Note: Angels asked God why he was going to create a race that would cause bloodshed on earth to which they God replied that 'He knew what they did not'. After creation of man, the angels were asked to prostrate before Adam.

The Holy Quran says:

Behold they Lord said tot angels; "I will create a vicegerent on earth." They said: "Wilt thou place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood?" whilst we do celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy Holy (name)?" He said, "I know what you know not".

And He taught Adam the names of all things; then He placed them before the angels, and said: "Tell Me the names of these if you are right."
They said "Glory to Thee: of knowledge we have non; save what Thou hast taught us; in truth it is Thou who art perfect in knowledge and wisdom."

He said: "O Adam! Tell them their names." When he had told them their names, Allah said: "Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of heaven and earth and I know what ye reveal and what ye conceal?"

And behold, We said to the angels "Bow down to Adam" and they bowed down: Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject faith.

(Holy Quran 2:30,31,32,33,34)

cold is my heart without the fire of fear
my eyes dry, lacking the somber reflection of my own sins
My nights pass with unconsciousness of my own heedlessness

I long for the Companionship that only One can Fulfill
To Fill my heart with love and fear
To Fill my eyes with streams of tears
To Fill my nights, seeking the One Who is NEAR

Apology

The heaven poured out
righteous indignation,
by befalling snow
the whole night.

Oh yes,
I remember her complaint yesterday.
It then must be her tears
that had turned into
the land-cracking icy snow.

Oh dear,
this makes me
all the more
sorrowful
and anxious.

Dying for Her Words

All in vain,
I am complaining.
The snowy winter has gone.
The spring is back.
Yet,
no message from her
for a long while.

Perhaps,
I did not dream
a sweet dream
last night.
The setting sun promises
me to hope for tomorrow.

I am yearning
to get words from her.
I cannot help but thinking of her,
putting down my book,
once every page
and in a short while.

Sweet Dream

Once an early riser
popping from under quilt,
lest I might be late after the daybreak.
Now a pillow-clinging sleepy head
fearing interruption of my sweet dreams.

I dreamed of her reading by my side,
kissing me affectionately
in joyful abandonment,
to reward me
for witty untangling of a puzzle.

She poured through my attentive ears
her heart's desire and wishes
on how to manage a family well, in and out,
hoping for an all-round success
in career, children, and love
well before the hairs turn silver gray.
