Imam Muhammad bin Sulaiman AlMuhanna?

Assalamu 'Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,

I attended a conference last month, and bought a CD of Qur'an recitation by Muhammad Sulaiman AlMuhanna. I must say its an excellent recitation, specially that of Surah Ibrahim. He is the Imam of  "Masjid AlMalik Fahad", that's what is written on the CD.
I just want to know if someone on the board goes to this masjid, or has been to the masjid? I tried searching for it on web, but couldn't come up with anything. Islamicfinder also doesn't have this mosque listed. So, if anyone could give me some info. on the Imam or Masjid, I'd appreciate it much.
I know of only 2 brothers (bhaloo, momineqbal) from the board who are in Cali. and perhaps close to L.A. If not them, anyone else ? ? ? ? ?

JazaakAllahu khairan.

Wassalam.

Sorry I haven't heard of him or the masjid, there must be about 60 or 70 masjids in the southern california area and much more in the rest of california.

There used to be one Imam Muhanna at Masjid King Fahd in Culver City (LA county) about a couple of years back. He was from Saudi Arabia and was, um, removed for reasons "unknown". No doubt, he had an amazing qiraat. But without listening to the audio, I can not make a positive ID. His current whereabouts are not known and its a fair chance that he is back in SA.

A little info on the majid itself would be helpful. It is a very handsome and very expensive structure right in the middle of a jewish neighborhood. Funds came from SA, which explains the name. Its shocking that anyone who claims to be from LA doesn't know about this masjid :) . You see, Culver City is 10 mins away from downtown LA and is almost impossible to miss due to the fact that there are no masajid in a wide radius to the north-west it.

[slm],

I go to that masjid (The masjid is also known by the name Islamic foundation of Shaikh Ibn Taimiyah). Its the same masjid some Jewish terrorists were planning to blow up quite some time ago! Yes that sheikh (he is fairly young) was the imam at our masjid some time back and his recitation was very good. But obviously he had some disagreements with masjid management and he was let go. He used to go to Darul-Quran which is a second masjid established by some brothers in culver city after some division with authorities at Malik Fahad. But I haven't seen him for quite some time so I am not sure if he is still here.

Interesting.  I don't think I've been to Culver City, I was even born in Los Angeles.   :D   I visited downtown Los Angleles after a couple of years.  I sort of treat Los Angeles county as a different country.   :P
