| [slm] Is there any thing in Islam that says women should not sit like men on horses and on things like motorcycles. Cause it's not really comfortable sitting on the side, the way women sit. :( |

| [slm] I wanted a bike really bad, so that I could ride with my son. My Hubby refused. He showed me a fatwa from Islam Q&A, that pretty much said it wasn't right for a woman to be riding a bike. Something about the shape of her behind on the seat and men looking at it. I am not disrespecting the scholor, but apparently my eeman has not evolved pure enough to accept his reasonings. | [slm] I wish the bro had provided some more info. My friend bought me back a few videos from Pakistan, and I saw a few women riding with their husbands or bros and they were sitting like guys. They were dressed Islamically too in niqaab and hijab. I can see how in some instances like going uphill on a bike it might be kind of inappropiate. I was wondering if there were any hadiths about the way Aisha(RA) rode like on a camel or another animal. |

| [wlm] hmm interesting question i never read any fatwas on the subject..but from what's there then it would stand to reason it wouldn't be allowed for women or men cause his awrah would be showing too right? what about if u were covered with like shalwar kameez? i wonder how the sahaba and sahabiyat did it... :-[ |

| indeed this is an interesting question. i have never came across a fatwa from scholars here in m'sia . if there are any malaysians here who have came across a fatwa in m'sia pls put it here. hmm.. i own a motorbike (and a car ;) ) I have seen a woman in jilbab and niqab riding on a motorbike. I wish I had my camera to capture that. |

| [slm] Since I have been here in Pakistan I have seen maybe one woman ride a motorbike like the men do. Otherwise, the thousands of other women ride saddle-side LoL, and a great majority are in hijab/niquab and abbaya. It's really a site to see, sometimes whole families are on one motorbike. The Dad, Mom, and kids. It just scares me to death though, because no one has a helmet on and the driving over here is lawless. Allahu Alem [slm] -Dazed :-) |
